p8z68-v pro HELP!!!

Thread Starter
OK so i am building a pc and my mobo is the p8z68-v pro, i still have a few components to go until i can build it but today i decided to test out my mobo and make sure it's working OK. I hooked the psu up and made sure the connectors are properly hooked in, the power and reset switch lit up but psu fan did not start spinning, i assumed i had to press the switch first, i hooked up one of my case fans to the motherboard and pressed the switch but nothing happened the psu fan did not spin and neither did the case fan. I hooked up the power switch on my case but still nothing when pressed. Am i doing something wrong or should i return it? i also hooked the fan up to the psu and pressed the buttons but again, nothing.

PS. i tried more than one fan so it's not that.

What do you mean by a 'few components'? The system won't post without the required basics.

humm...well the mobo locks up when it detects that theres no cpu/ram..and porbably sends a signal to the psu saying " zip it, the shop is closed for today" kinda

you could test the psu on its own by shorting the start pins.

Already done that it works perfect i was just worried about the mobo but it sounds like it's actually probably alright.
