CF currently sucks! - Page 2

GTA IV SUCKS donkey on my 6950. I get about 28 - 50fps on medium settings. My old GTX 275 used to max it out entirely at 80fps. I contacted Rockstar about it and they just gave me crap solutions back like reset everything in CCC.....I'm an IT Technician I know the basics!

Inside I get like 150fps , soon as I step outside it jumps all over the place. GTA IV, Lost and Damned and Gay Tony all the same Shame cos I love this game!

It may have to do with GTA, maybe its an overreaction on my part, or maybe im just dissapointed it doesn't work on ALL of my lovely games

I benchmarked fc2 with both cf enabled at disabled and here is what i got:

NO CF:
Settings: Demo(Ranch Small), 1600x900 (60Hz), D3D10, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(8x), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Custom), Vegetation(Very High), Shading(Ultra High), Terrain(Ultra High), Geometry(Ultra High), Post FX(High), Texture(Ultra High), Shadow(Ultra High), Ambient(High), Hdr(Yes), Bloom(Yes), Fire(Very High), Physics(Very High), RealTrees(Very High)
  • Total Frames: 4062, Total Time: 51.01s
  • Average Framerate: 79.63
  • Max. Framerate: 112.65 (Frame:612, 6.20s)
  • Min. Framerate: 59.75 (Frame:3040, 38.73s)

WITH CF:
Settings (same): Demo(Ranch Small), 1600x900 (60Hz), D3D10, Fixed Time Step(No), Disable Artificial Intelligence(No), Full Screen, Anti-Aliasing(8x), VSync(No), Overall Quality(Custom), Vegetation(Very High), Shading(Ultra High), Terrain(Ultra High), Geometry(Ultra High), Post FX(High), Texture(Ultra High), Shadow(Ultra High), Ambient(High), Hdr(Yes), Bloom(Yes), Fire(Very High), Physics(Very High), RealTrees(Very High)
  • Total Frames: 4793, Total Time: 51.00s
  • Average Framerate: 93.97
  • Max. Framerate: 144.05 (Frame:697, 6.23s)
  • Min. Framerate: 68.54 (Frame:3246, 34.64s)

I messed up the resolution a bit in the settings, but oh well, either way, CF seems to run it better! So, i guess its a success. I really, really... REALLY need to stop getting disappointed after each buy. Heh.. I'll look into getting it fixed up by re-downloading Windows Live Games

This. It is the second time in a few days that I have seen someone, assume modular means something other than THE PSU BEING MODULAR.

Thats crazy....
I always would assume a card like that would take a game like GTA 4 no problems.

MY 6850 runs the game really smooth on GTA 4 benchmarks I get 68 fps. Everything is maxed out + AA.

Maybe in .ini settings you can make adjustments to tell the app or something that a second GFX card is sharing the load.

I know when I played Resiendt Evil 5 i could go into .ini doc and up the value in cores because I had 2 core cpu at the time. I help a little bit but it was just an option for that game.
Now I got look into mine as well....

When i run the becnhmark on GTA IV i get like 68fps maxed out, but in game microstutter and low fps everywhere!

I'd be dissapointed with only a 13fps increase using crossfire too. Especially for £200 odd. I find most games actually require more CPU performance than GPU...My 6950 sits in most games around 60% useage....I max everything out. The only games I know like to use 90% + is Crysis 2 and DIRT 3 so far.

GTA IV does not work well with crossfire, i have 3x CF and when i used to play that game only one card work, the 5970 and not full 5970 lol only half of it used to work on that game lol.

GTA IV Sucks, try Mafia 2 and you will see that both cards will work perfect.

CF doesn't suck; games that don't fully utilize Xfire suck. GTA 4 is a triple threat. It's a poor excuse for a port, it eats resources like an out of control memory leak and doesn't play nicely with certain hardware configurations. Run a single card and it should perform better. And the benchmark NEVER mirrors actual performance while playing yourself. I would get 70+. Step outside, it would absolutely plummet to well below 30fps, no resolution or detail setting would remedy the performance loss. Try other games with both cards, you may be shocked at the performance increase

This is exactly the problem I have with GTA IV + Add-ons, worked fine on my old GTX275 which was far less powerful!

I'm still not convinced by crossfire, most games I play use hardly any GPU power, but take full advantage of the CPU instead! F1 2010, FSX, DIRT 3, SHIFT 2, etc etc

Also, you don't have 4GB of VRAM... When you crossfire/SLI you don't add the totals together -____-
