Why should it be any different from the other Battlefield game? Bodyshots shouldn't be rewarded by insta-kill anywhere on the map. It was a OHK at shotgun range in BC2 which was balanced since they both had similar idle time between shots. Some people don't find the idea of being instakilled right as they spawn by a sniper with lousy aim fun. Headshots are still OHK so good snipers shouldn't have a problem. There's still hardcore mode for 1337 sn1p3rs

What I find amusing is that people complained you died too quick in COD and even in the BF3 Alpha.

Did you guys ever stop to think that with 32 players on each team, if 8 of those players on each team were snipers, you'd have 8 people 1-shotting everyone.

This is clearly for balance purposes. In BC2 you couldn't 1-shot from the chest at long range either. It will probably be the same in BC2 where you have to be close to 1-shot. DICE just has to confirm that.

Heh, it's not a case of balancing it's a case of purposely nerfing the Recon class.

I can see the balance, but if you're in close range and such, one sniper bullet to the chest is a kill. Far away? Could get off with a little nick. Close range? Not a change.

Besides, the "sniper" class has not existed in battlefield since bf2 and has been called "recon" ever since.

Recon will now have mini uavs and laser targeting devices for missiles to lock onto, thereby allowing them to call in air strikes from airborne players with atg missiles......or with the gau-8 cannon of an a-10 *drools*.

You can also completely remove scopes from long range rifles and use their iron sights and still be successful in close quarters.

If you want a one hit kill weapon up close, use a shotgun.


Imo, dice would like the recon class to play a much more involved role in terms of team and squad play. Sniper is just one avenue the recon can take.

You just have to be good at it to do it now if you'd like to specialise in that area.

Everything else you said sounds epic, but I for one still think a SR shot to the upper chest should be a one hit kill.



I'm a good sniper, but I still think an upper body hit (around the neck and arms area) ought to be a kill.

But, so long as they fix the headshots problem I'll be happy. Nothing more annoying than pulling out your pistol, shooting someone in the head, hearing the helmet "ping" and yet they don't die

While I agree a sniper is most part of the time a camper, I don't quick scope, I take my time to follow, aim and shoot. I don't see why, my concentration, my accuracy, my time invested into aiming at the right place and pressing the fire button just to see a X as if I did scratch my enemy.

IMO, left upper arm, head, chest and pubic should be lethal, 1 bullet that's it.

Unless there is body armor, which could reduce the dmg.
Even there, if a sniper bullet is not killing the enemy, it should AT LEAST, at least hurt him, punch him back on his back like in the first video we ever saw when a car blow up near our character.

This is a design issue, if Sniper is a 1 shot kill it should be useless in CLOSE COMBAT, something it's hard to do in non-simulators. What would make it useless? Cumbersome (not being able to go through doors with it in hand), weight (makes you move slower and get tired faster), only being able to scope using bipod on a surface or lying down. But BF is not about this (this is Arma now), so no 1 body shot kills is the compromise in this matter.
