IRL, I think you have a better chance of surviving a round at point blank range.

Mainly because a bullet starts to tumble after a few hundred feet. At 1000m, that 50 cal bullet enters your body at an angle or sideways and rips a chunk from it. At 3 ft away, it just passes through you, leaving a big hole.

People need to stop moaning about realism, Battlefield isnt about realism but about fun.
1 bullet from an AK47 will also tear your chest apart in real life.

But a SAPI plate will stop a bullet from an SVD.

It actually would be LESS realistic to have 1-2 shot kills with all weapons. At combat distances, it'd take a bit of 9mm shots, a few AK shots, and few M16 shots, about 3 or 4 M14/SVD/M24/M40 shots to the body to get a reliable kill. .50BMG will do the deed regardless, though.

Your standard GI body armor MUST be able to take at LEAST three rounds of 7.62x51mm M80 ball, with many being able to take multiple more hits. Essentially, to kill with body shots you need to fire enough to crack through the ceramic plate and hit flesh.

No, but I didn't say that they are run and gun. I just said making a sniper crouch to use the scope, in the name of balance (I.E. making the game easier for everyone else) is pathetic.

Realistic looking vehicles based on what? an artists interpretation. Not based on actual vehicles like the BF series? Nor tailored to perform like their real counterparts.

Point is you can say it's a game and it's not supposed to be real, but I agree with you. But here's where you're getting lost:

Having a matter of fact that a headshot results in a kill via a single bullet is the result of realism making its way into games. It makes perfect sense that a headshot is a one hit kill. Just like it makes sense that a limb shot does less damage to the player, which is also a feature in BF3 (as it is in many games) and therefore it makes perfect sense that an upper body shot is also a one hit kill or even a major damage zone. If a shot to the limbs does 10% damage per bullet then a shot to the chest (nipple area ) should be a 70% damage per shot, 90% in the neck and 100% in the head.

Anyway, I've digressed, the point is you're telling me it's ok for HS's to be one hit kills and all the rest we've talked about but you'll drag your feet on body shots? Ergo, realisim is fine until it makes your life harder?









Also, Hardcore only really does 1 hit kill because all players have less health. All the damage is exactly the same, I believe. I'd personally play hardcore a lot, except 3D spotting isn't on and neither is the HUD.surviving a round at point blank range.

That's a pretty decent point. Plus at a closer range the wound is much cleaner and there's more chance of the bullet going striaght through and not causing complications that way... but that's just getting far too realisitc.

Just imagine the BF4 trailer. Medic's POV of a soldier laid with his guts out and on screen commands directing you to a piece of shrapnel lodged in the guys stomach....

Oh yes. DICE didn't bow to the ungrateful, unhelpful whinging in the Alpha. They did, however, listen to those who made genuine suggestions and also fixed the massive bug that allowed you to spot people who you couldn't actually see.
