Yeah, I agree with you here, DLC is a sneaky way to charge your customers again so that they can continue to play with everyone. DLC can be good/worth the price, but more often than not it isn't.
It's not a logical fallacy. There are people that only like to play Rush or Conquest (I play Rush probably 90% of the time). I never play deathmatch. It's the same thing.

For the people that only play hardcore, I would bet most would leave the community and find a game that offered that style of gameplay instead of just getting used to normal mode. That adds more users that people like me, who play both modes, can play with at no extra cost, and in essence growing the community.

Like I said, it's a moot point.

BF3 is going to have Rush, Conquest, Death Match, HC and Non-HC, which should cater for most people.

The game looks awesome, I can't wait for beta.

Taking something as a given isn't a confirmation. This feature was added in Bad Company, and this isn't a Bad Company title. I don't think Dice has literally said there was an HC mode. There wasn't one in the Alpha, so unless I missed it, where has this mode even been confirmed to exist in BF3?

Currently deployed in a warzone...Ive seen taliban drop with 1 hit of a .50cal barret, I thought this game was going for realism? -1

Nope, it's not meant to be realistic. It's meant to be a fun, arcadish game in a realistic context. In no way is it meant to simulate real world wars.

Since when dude? Since when has Battlefield~ a game where you can jump off a ten foot tall platform and deploy a parachute which sucks right back up into your ass ever claimed to be aiming for realism? How does a game that lets you slap on paddles on a guys skull and have him come back from the dead after being hit by a tank round aim for realism?

Battlefield is one of the most Hollywood BS shooters ever made. There is no real life battle in the world where you can have some guy jump in a jet, blow up a bridge, take out an enemy mig~ then get hit out of the sky by a stinger missile, parachute down and then take the enemies helicopter which he proceeds to suicide into a friendly tank because he can't fly the freaking thing and then from the rubble of the smoldering tank he knifes a dude right in the face just to turn around and get paddled in the nuts by SOME 14 year old medic who can't WAIT to tell it to all his buddies over Teamspeak.

I'm fine with it. I always aim for the head. I like the incorporation of more recoil though. That's what's missing in most FPS. Developers need to go back to CS 1.6/DOD and look at how recoil affected balance in those games.

I guarantee that if I shoot you in the body, you're dead.

Head shots while especially lethal are not typically the shot any sniper looks for barring incidents where you have to unplug the brain from the spinal cord. That shot is more for hostage situations and possible bomb threats where you don't want the suspect carrying out a muscle reflex that could get people dead.

I shoot you it's gonna be someplace lethal and it won't matter if you're wearing a vest or not. Your best bet is in an Armored car. Unless I have a rifle that fires anti-tank rounds.

But this is a game and their attempt to make it more realistic only made it more unrealistic.

I shoot you in the V of your arm and your armpit or in the thigh around your pubic area, you're just as dead. Just takes a bit for you to bleed out.

Erm... BF has never been about realism.


Authenticity is something different. Sounds like semantics but really it's just getting the right feel. Giving defibrillators the ability to resurrect anyone no matter how badly they were killed is so totally unrealistic, but it gives a huge teamplay boost. Whenever I'm in a tightly knit squad, I try to find the one class that is missing (unless it's recon, in which case I go assault) and give that squad that capability. In real life, you think every 4 man section has a dude with a grip of AT4s?

So consider it that way - it's going for the feel of working in squads as part of a larger force. 1 hit kill guns hugely favor guys going off on their own to up their K/Ds.
