With the two shot method, you get the ability to take a huge chunk of health from a player, therefore slowing their ability to actually function and is a form of suppression as they will have to wait for their health to regen before they move out again.
If they decide to move out before their health is high enough, one more shot and they're gone.
People also need to stop getting hung up on getting kills.
Battlefield has never been about simply getting kills and the recon class is actually about reconnassance/gathering/sharing Battlefield information now.
As I said before, you have a tool that can make a person scared to move again for the next 20 seconds with a single shot. That's a pretty significant tool for holding down an area.
Long story short, think less about killing, think more about supporting.
Bigger maps dont mean longer ranges for snipers. DICE isnt stupid enough to not put LoS blockers everywhere like they did in BC2 to break up most maps quite a lot. Between buildings, trees, walls, vehicles, pits, w/e other cover and SMOKE GRENADES!!! hiding and stoping snipers isnt that hard if they are "noob".
So you say that snipers need to learn to work together and as a team, and you are going out alone to capture a point which a sniper is defending (oh look he is helping his team) and since you die, when u are ramboing alone, without backup, or a medic, the sniper needs to learn how to play right? Riiight. If you had a medic or use smoke grenades then you can fight snipers easily. Or if there are more than one of you, not even with a medic, you have a good chance of taking them out with most weapons.
When you shoot u give away your position as a sniper. And in BC2 every gun is a sniper and once the maps are known most guns can SNIPE you back. I hope they fix this for BF3. Dont even get me started on slugs.
Snipers do NOT need a nerf, if anything there should be a limit on snipers, where the best snipers get those spots based on their stats as a sniper.
Are there too many idiot noob snipers? Yes
Should the sniper class be destroyed because of it? No
I used to use the GOL when I was new and quickly switched to the SVU as it requires headshots for kills, and if you are good you can kill more people faster with it. The SVU is an M14 with a scope, check the stats.
If anything, things such as shotgun slugs, long range on every weapon but shotguns without slugs, baseraping, spawn locations, and using explosives on infantry should be fixed. You should not get points for killing infantry with a rocket or 40mm or have some sort of diminishing return or kick feature, equate killing infantry with a rocket that doesnt damage a vehicle as a 2pt offence, and using 40mm as a 1 pt offence, and boot the player after 20pts of violations within a 15min period. And if they get 20pts they get kicked and the violation amount is 10pts for 30min or something similar.
THESE are the problems with the gameplay that need to be fixed. Sniping is absolutely fine in BC2, if anything its underpowered (or every other weapon being a sniper that doesnt have bullet drop is).
