Headshots will still be one shot kills in normal mode.

Just play hardcore if you want 1 shot sniper body kills. I don't get what people are complaining about, this is the main reason hardcore exists. I prefer 1 shot sniper kills, and I'll be in hardcore mode because of this, so I really don't have anything to complain about.

Right, while you're getting sprayed by an M249 you're gonna take the time to aim for the head. That's retarded... I can tell you probably get owned by snipers all the time and rage about it.

The article didn't specify if it applied to hardcore mode only. If hardcore remains one shot one kill, then end of the discussion for me.

Well, if we're going to go down the realism angle, I doubt I'd be able to aim and fire a sniper rifle while being gunned down by an M249.

Glad to hear it.. I know I'm a minority but I prefer HS only insta kill. It makes it more challenging. I snipe probably 50% of the time and then the other three classes are evenly split with the other 50. The game isn't a sim, so whining because you cant just sit back and hit a target in center mass (easiest part to hit, btw) and kill him doesn't make me sympathetic. Get better and make sure you're getting HS's. It's more satisfying anyway

This is a very good move by dice. It's not meant to 'nerf' snipers, it's meant to put more focus on team play. Making snipers harder to use makes it less enticing for people to camp. Now you have less people sitting on hills and less people running around the hills looking for the dozen of noobs sitting on the hills. This will take people out of their safety zone and almost force them into the suck.

You can still get one shot kills, L2Headshot, noobs. This will just add to the teamplay.

Any weapon does one shot one kill in the head so you might as well scope a G3 and get 20 shots at the guy's head if sniper rifles have no advantage over automatic weapons.
Skill is no argument, the fact that those rifles are bolt action means that while you're cocking the guy can run to cover, heal himself, kill you or get killed by someone else. I'm sorry to say but there is far less skill when spraying an ennemy with an M249 than taking one precise shot.
It has less to do with too many snipers and more to do with balancing the game.

With the bigger maps, snipers will be able to fire at infantry from much further distances than before and with one shot killing, will give people no idea where to even look for a sniper.

"Is this area safe for me to capture the objective?"

*sees noone in sight for hundreds of yards*

*dies*

"I guess not?"

*respawns on other side of map*

With the two shot method, you get the ability to take a huge chunk of health from a player, therefore slowing their ability to actually function and is a form of suppression as they will have to wait for their health to regen before they move out again.

If they decide to move out before their health is high enough, one more shot and they're gone.

People also need to stop getting hung up on getting kills.

Battlefield has never been about simply getting kills and the recon class is actually about reconnassance/gathering/sharing Battlefield information now.

As I said before, you have a tool that can make a person scared to move again for the next 20 seconds with a single shot. That's a pretty significant tool for holding down an area.

Long story short, think less about killing, think more about supporting.

You wont be able to in this game either unless you have the skills.

Battlefield 3 has actual suppression mechanics that A:Blur your vision when being fired at and B:Stop your health regenerating.

That way you actually get a sense of "Man, i'm actually NOT going to sit here lining up a shot while an M249 sends hundreds of rounds at my general direction and expect to be victorious", which you actually can do in other Battlefield games.

Instead, you will need to do what any good sniper would do.

Understand your position has been compromised, relocate, get revenge.

Just goes to show how the game will be weeding out the bad apples and making sure those who start off bad can only become good by following good practices.

What's to complain about?

In CoD, headshots, bodyshots, arms shots, etc., are all given a different damage multiplier. Maybe instead of removing one hit kills to the body, just adjust the more powerful snipers to not be overpowered, but still have the damage multiplier to be a one hit kill to the body. Like the M95 would be a one hit kill to upper and lower body, but would have a smaller mag, lower accuracy, and longer reload. While the Type 88 semi-auto would be able to fire quickly, but less accurately and powerfully,m and weaker multipliers.

I like the balance in BC2 currently. I hope they don't do a complete overhaul and instead just tweak it.
Well yes exactly, so give the guy at least the chance that if he hits the ennemy he kills him. The ability to aim while taking fire is another story though.
I just don't see the point of turning good weapons for those who know how to use them into crap.
Again if hardcore keeps the one shot one kill, that's fine with me.

Hopefully this will deter people from playing that class. This disease needs to be treated as such.

Ironcially enough, snipes in BC2 are two shots to the body, outside of 20m. What's the big deal now, you can't haz quickscopesz?
