GA-MA790X-UD4P not booting

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=3038#sp

I've had the above mobo for 2 years now and when I moved I was having problems with my Hyper 212 fan not running when I turned on the rig. This would cause the system to not boot up. I would wiggle around the connector and it would work. Eventually, wiggling it around stopped working. I thought it was just the fan and connected the old CPU fan and it spun up instantly. But, the rig wouldn't boot up, also noticed once I would turn it on, the power button would not shut it off.

Cant tell if this related to the CPU fan but I'm really thinking its the mobo.

Help?

Thanks.

Try reseating everything? Just a start.

Ensure the 4-pin/8-pin CPU connector is on there tight.

I've done both.

Everything is on there tight. Anyway to test where the problem might be? I'd hate to buy a new mobo for nothing.

unplug the CPU 4-pin/8-pin connector, see if power goes through it then....if so we may have VRM failure.
^ It seems like the behaviour of not having the 4-pin/8-pin plugged in is already happening (not able to shut off with power button). I doubt the VRMs (a quality 8+2 phase with cooling) took the blow on an x2. Plus the PC does turn on, just not POST.

I didn't notice, I read the title and saw not booting.... I guess I just assumed it was something to do with not turning on.

Have you tried resetting the bios yet?

I've tried that and nothing.

The problem was, the second the cpu fan would spin the system would start flawlessly and be problem free until I turned it off.

Now the case fans spin, HDD's spin and PSU turns on but you can hear the HDD's arent actually searching or booting.

Hmm. Have you swapped gpu to test if your gfx is working? Since you did mention that it posted and I assume it can boot to windows.

I thought it was the gpu since it was a new one but when I would wiggle the connector and the rig would run, the graphics were perfect. So I figured its not gpu related.
