Move App Data - Page 2

Thread Starter
Ok yeah i used that type of move for my documents, pictures, videos, etc. But in this certain scenario i think reinstalling win7 is a little too long and excessive at the moment so maybe i'll just move each one. i don't have all that many programs installed i'm not sure why it is taking up so much space. maybe steam has something to do with it.

I have quite a bit of stuff installed and my AppData only consumes 1.16GB. Your 7GB could be the sign of other kind of problem. Steam probably isn't the problem, I have several games installed totaling about 55GB on my application drive but it's not affecting my AppData.

You might be right. Perhaps Steam puts all of the game data and game saves in there. It might even install your games to AppData too. I don't have Steam so I really don't know.

Which apps/folders are taking up the space, my AppData is around 1 gig and 650MB of that is FFox. Steam should stay in its own folder, some of the games may write to AppData though.

seems to be that since i have Adobe cs5 suite installed it's posing a problem. that folder has 5.99 gigs. but i don't use it too often, not yet at least.

when i use photoshop to edit my photos i put the cameraraw cache on my data drive which is the only thing that i have been using.

Yeah, it looks like if you lost that 6GB you'd have the same as most of us. I think you could either move the folders with the location tab or just move the offending Adobe folder with a junction, SteamMover is the easiest way to create junctions, it's not just for Steam.

Another way to "move" this folder is to reset the "permanent" environment variable, %appdata%. You can do this with a CLI utility called setx. Some information about it is here:
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/l...04(WS.10).aspx

That junction thing is probably safer...or something...though...
