Intel speedstep not working?

Thread Starter
Hey, I recently hit 4.2ghz stable on my i52500k. Temps are around 50-55... However, previously when I would have the system on stock settings, the cpu freq would drop to 1.6ghz to keep temps low and such. That no longer happens on anything other than stock settings. I liked this feature... c1e and speedstep are both on, am I missing something? Also, cpuz says that the cpu vcore is 1.21 while in bios I set it manually to 1.275...

I was able to get speedstep working by using offset voltage to tweak vcore, as opposed to manually entering a vcore. See you if have that option in your bios.

Something else to try, in windows go to control panel -> system and security ->power options -> change plan settings (on your current power plan) -> change advanced settings -> check to make sure minimum processor state (under processor power management) is not at 100% (I just put mine at 0%).

hm, Min cpu state was set for 100, so I took it down to 0 and then 20 and it didn't work... not even after a reboot. Also, My vcore remains relatively stable 90% of the time... but when I run prime 95 my vcore goes to 1.208v... no matter what it's set to. Confusion is setting in...

unplug the power cord, press and hold onto the power button to drain any excess current from the rig and take the CMOS battery out for a couple minutes, then pop it back in and it should clear the cmos.

Double check that c1e and speedstep are set to enabled not just auto. That's about all I can think of now :S

Hey, found the cmos jumper, reset, didn't do a darn thing... I'll go double check that they're enabled and not auto.
