should wait for 600 series or 3 way SLI the 580? - Page 2

I wouldn't recommending SLing more than 2 cards. In some games you get a decrease in performance. The scaling becomes terrible when you go more than 2 cards.

However, some games do see a boost but is it worth spending extra money for a 3rd graphics card? I don't think so.

I would keep your current 580,if you want you can SLi them when Kepler comes out(the price will drop)

You can wait for the rest of your life. It isn't going to get you anywhere. 600 series comes out Q1 2012. Act now or never. Grabbing 2 more 580's in 3 way sli is stupidity due to diminishing returns. Wouldn't even bother with 2 either, unless the resolution was higher than 1080p. Stick with the 580 that you got, and make decisions when bf3 benchies are out.
you mentioned some good points too. I think i will stick to the current 580 for now and not going to water cool and SLI it. just wait and see how's the performance of the 680's

wow. the 2 way SLI actually won over the 3 way SLI. on my mobo, you recon use x8/x8 or x16/x16?

I just thinking if the 680's did more great jobs than the 580

Waiting for things in the tech world is a bad IMO. If your gonna wait for 6XX why not 7XX, it will probably be out 8 months after 6XX (just like 5XX was after 4XX). Just look at whats going on with bulldozer. Buy now, enjoy, sell later, upgrade, enjoy more.

Thats the price you pay for enjoying now rather than later.

I completly agree. By the time the 600 series is released, you'll have heard about how good the 700 series is and you'll want to wait for that.

Yes in some games it did but the third card did provide a boost but it's not really worth wasting money on a 3rd card.

As far as I know, it doesn't really matter if you put in 8x SLI or 16x. We have yet to maxout PCI E bandwidth.

ok. i realized that even we run single GPU, 2 or 3 way SLI also does not really matter. the thing is, we can't see the different with our eyes, unless using program to test it. am i correct?
