Errr. I don't mean frame-rate. What I mean is the bandwidth the card uses
Also, a tri-sli setup would be handy if you have three monitors running(or plan to).

Waiting and seeing about the GTX 6XX is pointless, but if you are concerned with performance in BF3 for example, wait and see what its like with the single 580, then make your decision on SLI, and then if SLI isn’t up to your requirements think Tri-SLI.

People get all sorts of crazy ideas about having to get this that and the other upgrade for game x but until you have seen the games benchmarks wait. The single 580 eats any game on the market so if its games performance you are concerned with, save your money and wait till the impending flood of uber-graphics games BF3, Skrym etc come out.

If you are just a hardware junkie, why are you even asking? BUY BUY BUY TRI-SLI!!!!

When new cards come out from either NVIDIA or AMD, two of the big changes are usually power consumption/heat. As new architecture is introduced, cards are usually able to run cooler(perhaps take a bit more power) but more efficiently than it's previous generation(say GTX 460 and GTX 560 1200w? Well, I would wait until the 600 series comes out. When you don't know, don't decide and take a leap of faith. For all we know, they could take up more power(though I doubt it), or require less, and 1200w might be either too little or just a bit too much(though I highly doubt it). Maybe you could wait until the 600 series, and get a better more efficient PSU as well(maybe 80 Plus Platinum might become more common by 2012(kind of doubt it still; but Gold might be) Save and wait is my opinion.

Sir, you are jumping the gun on this... so be careful. before you start looking at new cards ... look at what the cards need to go on to and how much of a performance boost you will get from it... What I am talking about is PCIe 3.0. Do some research on it and be totally sure that this is what you want to do

And if you wanna go Tri SLI then I suggest you get this card and heres a vid to go with it

I don't know if someone else brought this up but what resolution do you play at? That should be the main, if not only consideration when looking at high end multi-gpu setups. If you game at 2560x1600 or higher you could benefit more from the third card.

I chose not to wait and have been happy for a few months, but my resolution really helped me make that choice. The only way I'll sell and upgrade again depends on how well BF3 runs @ 5960x1200. For what it's worth though, there really isn't anything that challenges these cards.

Waiting would make sense to me if the 6xx series was coming out in a month, but alas it's not. Good luck with your decision!

gtx 580 costs £500, these enw 600 series cards gonna cost best part of a grand. Bloody downright offensive charging as much as they do.
