Super stoked!!!

So guys, I just got my level 10 gt, maximus IV extreme mobo, i7 - 2600k, antec 1200 HCP and my Radeon HD 6990!!! Now I just need to get my ssds and ram. I've been told to not put all my money on ram and instead get better ssds, which I agree. Does anyone have any suggestions on a cheap ram I can get. After reading the CAS/latency stuff, I'm not even sure what should i get. Also, this is what I'm thinking for my ssds: Corsair Force GT 120GB SATA III SSD, they're a bit costly, but I think they'll be worth it.

I have the Corsair Force GT 120GB, it's the one thing I wish I had gotten on all my previous builds before a new GFX card or more RAM as the performance boost from this thing alone is unbelievable.

I did my homework on SSDs; the Force GT series are the best money can buy. Pull the trigger.

I'd go with 8gigs. As for what speed and latency...how much do you want to spend?

Those Force 3 SSDs from Corsair use the SF-2281 controller, as such it's a huge gamble whether it will be reliable or not. I'd go with the Crucial M4 or Intel 510, as they are the most reliable SATA III SSDs on the market.

There you go. 4GB-1600 $29

http://ncix.ca/products/index.php?sk...r&promoid=1365

And this 8GB-1600 $54

I've probably bought 80 of these sticks of RAM in the last year for customers and Never had a single problem! Don't put to much thought into RAM as it should really be one of the least cared about components in a gaming PC these days. As long as you have 4GB-8GB / 1300-1600mhz then you will be fine.

CAS Latency and even the speed of the RAM is so overrated it's not even funny. You'll NEVER see the actual performance difference from 1300-1600mhz or even lower latency .

The difference is on such a minute level that your brain cannot process the speed differences, and especially when you get an SSD will this difference be even smaller (To your eye, anyways)

I hope I helped!
I believe people suggest 1600mhz because it lines up with the overclocking on the 2600k.

Depends on what you are doing. Anything lower than 1600mhz will most likely have a visible impact on performance. If you are F@H then having faster ram is definitely beneficial. To say you'll never see the performance is a pretty ignorant statement tbh.
Also, you have to be careful with that Vengeance ram due it's stupidly massive heatspreader making it incompatible with many modern cpu heatsinks.

Ram speed doesn't effect 2600k overclocks because you manipulate the multiplier, not BCLK. 1600mhz ram is popular because it's cheaper than 1866 and 2133 and offers very similar performance for the majority of applications.

agreed, i had my Force 3 for 2 days..... returned it for the more expensive slower intel 510. the BSOD's were terrible. i would not recommend getting a sandforce 2281 based drive until they find a solution.
