I've seen it reported that most mobo's force turbo to be enabled for you to manually control multipliers for an i5-2500k and other Sand Bridges.

The issue with this is that once you go to full load it's going to use a higher voltage, here's an example.

I set my vcore to 1.310 for a 4.5 OC, once I turn on prime95 and do any type of load test the full clock speeds kick in and the voltage in CPU-Z changes between 1.310-1.332, back and forth.

I'm not entirely sure, but, this behavior could be causing some issues with certain settings.

I have a rock solid 100% error free 4.5 OC when I set my vcore to 1.330, then at max load the voltage increases and stays at 1.356

I get the feeling it's going to be extremely tedious to go past 4.5 with 100% stability.

Glad you got it sorted! thumb.gif But yeah It can be quite difficult indeed, its just the fact that you could 1.23volt set, and then find out for next multiplie 1.22v works better, so you end up banging your head against a wall.

As others have mentioned I think turbo is turned on automatically when you overclock, and yes have speedstep enabled.

Excellent guide.

One thing I wonder about is "cpu spread spectrum" when I overclock my old 1156 system, this one was a definitely DISABLE, I have read Sandy Bridge guides where they turn it off and the other guides where they have it on auto/enable.
I'm totally confused confused.gif

Great guide! When you say "Turbo Ratio - By all cores" do you mean in OS or not?

Not sure I follow you. n my asus bios, i get the option to set it either "by all cores" or "by each core" if i remember correctly. Basically one lets you change the multiplier once your in windows, and the other only lets you change it in bios.

I set mine to 'by all cores', and that means I can only change it in bios. It just makes it easier as apposed to changing for each individual core. tongue.gif

Ahh, yeah, thats it's smile.gif Yes, I have set it so that there is one setting for all cores.

Thanks again!
