My son just got a 360 Slim. Only thing on the box is 4Gig memory. I take it, it has no internal hard drive? What can you do with it without a hard drive? If I have to buy a hard drive, can you please tell me what kind do I need? From what I'm reading, it looks like a standard PC hard drive will work. Is that correct? Will a laptop hard drive work also?

Will this one work?

The reviews all have possitive comments as in "it works" , " No problems."

Sorry for the third post in a row, but I found what I need to know. Microsoft drives are the only ones that will work with both newer and older Xbox games due to special software on a hidden partition. All generic drives will work for current games only. Not the older games because they do not have the special software. (Microsoft proprietary).

I've been looking at the reviews for the generic drives, and this is what I'm reading. So even though a generic is $40-$50 cheaper, you will not be able to play older games.

The hard drive has to be modified with software, then it will be recognized as a true 360 hard drive. Right now I'm using a WD in my 360. I actually have a 320GB WD Scorpio Blue (WD3200BEVT) which I could flash and sell to you for $50 if you'd like. If you aren't sure of what will or won't work let me know and I can test it. I've played Xbox Originals such as Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory and it properly saves just fine.
