16:9 is far better for gaming. Games are programmed for 16:9 and you therefor get a larger Field of view and no black bars.

This is biased. Field of view is NOT the only factor that makes certain aspect ratios preferrable for gaming. There are multiple other factors. I'll get on that later but I gotta go now.

u2311h vs u2312hm = situation not known yet

U2412m vs u2410 = U2410 wins image quality wise, but u2412m has less input lag and ghoting

If you want an IPS for gaming Dell is pretty much your only choice.

My knowledge of monitors is admittedly full of holes, but im not aware of an IPS display that is anywhere approaching respectable for gaming from any company but Dell.

You can always look into LG and Hanns-G though. I know the LG IPS displays ive worked with have been fantastic, and Hanns-G just makes good monitors all around.

Hello,

I'd recommend the HP zr24w. It's a wonderful IPS screen. I have 3 of them set up in eyefinity and I haven't had a single issue. I had one stuck (red) pixel on one of them but that is the only issue.

Dell's monitors are comparable but a bit more expensive. You can pick one of these up on amazon for just over 350 on amazon, or o.co (overstock)

I'm hearing some prominent talk of Dell in here. No love for HP's ZR24w?

Edit: HP hadn't been mentioned yet when I started writing.
