I've got the two bottom ones pretty tight, but no matter what I do with the top, I notice no difference. I'm afraid to turn them too much because I don't know if it will come apart (does it have a thread stop?).

Did you have this problem too?

ps, thanks for the lightning fast response!
i've had to have the top one pretty tight to hold a 30" which they're really not designed for. holds pretty good after tighening the top one.
you might also have to use the other stand coz stretching the extensions that far might not keep your extension attaching the monitor level causing it to drift coz of the weight and tilt.

watch out overtightening the smaller allen key.. i cracked one of the extension stoppers on the pole.

I really haven't had a problem with this.

I have mine tightened to the point where they are easy to move, but will stay in place.

I don't know if I just got lucky, but I set them once when I first put them up and haven't had to adjust them yet. It also helps because my desk is fastened to the wall and even if I bump the desk it doesn't move, so the monitors don't move.

Hello Remix65

I like your triple arm from ergotron, it looks very good with your screens & speakers. I have a question for you, because I wanted to buy this setup, and from what I know, it's custom, Ergotron don't have that on their online store. I have contacted Ergotron sales manager, and he told me that he can't recommend this setup because "The pole and desk clamp are not designed to hold that weight and have it so far away from the clamp". Do you have any trouble with this setup? Do your screens fall or collapse or something like that? Do I need to have a very strong table to hold the setup? How expensive this setup was, was it cheaper than 3 Ergotron 1screen arms? Thank you in advance for your quick response and for being helpful thumb.gif

Thanks

I'm not sure if you're question was supposed to be directed to me or not, but I wanted to weigh in.

I had purchased the dual arm mount with the tall pole and an additional arm mount (short pole). I then put all three arms on the tall pole. See this "Figure 1" below:

Figure 1 (Click to show)

I did not have any problems as far as drooping and it appeared to hold the weight of all three monitors with ease.

However there were 2 drawbacks to this configuration.

1.) Mobility --  The left and right monitors could only go so far. The radius (of the arms) were very limited because all three monitors originated from the same pole. This was the biggest drawback.

2.) Stability -- The left and right monitors would shake ever so slightly when there was any movement.

I decided to try and mount each monitor on it's own pole. See "Figure 2" for my revised (and current) configuration.

Figure 2 (Click to show)

Please excuse the mess... I just recently reconfigured the monitors and have yet to route the cables properly.

The second configuration gives the monitors much more mobility.  It also costs less because I don't need the arm extensions. As far as stability was concerned, my monitors still shake, but not as much. I attribute this to the stability of my desk, NOT the monitor arms.

I highly recommend the second configuration. Feel free to ask any questions you may have.

if you're asking about the black & white photo, those are 3 seperate ergotron bases. the left portrait and 30" monitor are sharing one desk mount. the right portrait monitor has its own base hooked up to the wall. the tv on top has its own wall mount.
i bought 2 desk mounts and 2 wall mounts. i didnt have to use the desk mount to have 2 monitors.

the mounts are solid. my desk is plastic but the mounts are firm on it. one regular desktop is strong enough to hold 2 monitors. the arms arent designed to hold 30" monitors but can be tightened to hold a 30" in place and move around. its one of those "not recommended" but can still get the job done right deals.

my current setup is the color triple 24" setup. for that i had to use the other desk mount to have all 3 monitors. i'd have liked to but couldnt add another arm for the 24" on the right on the wall mount the 30" is on because the wall mount is long enough. the wall mounts are only enough for one arm.

the speaker is a reflection off the mirror. you can see the camera right next to it taking the picture...

2 ergotron desk mount lcd arm 45-241-026
2 ergotron desk wall lcd arm 45-243-026

2 ergotron desk wall lcd arm 45-180-194. (center eyefinity monitor has one of these arms 2 extensions ((because of the wall)) on the 45-24* mount. left one has only arm)

the old 180 lx series mounts and arms can be used with the new ones.
