Thanks!
After reading this thread and many have the same exact cards unlocked but yours, did you try to reset CCC, MSI Afterburner or Trixx to default?

It could be that CCC, AB or Trixx keep the previous profile and in registry prior to the BIOS switch, then forced that profile after PC restart thus showing the locked shader.

I know this will happen if I didn't reset CCC and MSI Afterburner to factory default for the 6990. After switching the BIOS from 830 to 880 MHz for the core, everywhere I look, the core speed was forced to 830 MHz. It will show the correct speed after everything is reset.

How is the fan on this card?I was about to get a Twin Frozr 3 which looks like it has a superb cooler with double fans, but now I am undecided again.Cooling system on the toxic looks "cheapish" to me?

The Sapphire TOXIC incorporates the VaporX Cooling Chamber under the cooling fins ...

It seems to work well, runs cooler than a GTX 570, but also check out the reviews ...

The thing that blew my mind the most about this video card is the cooler. Leaving the fan on automatic, we find temperatures that are typical to that of other AMD cards of the same caliber. However, once at full speed, even with a large overvolt, the cooler does an absolutely excellent job at keeping the temperature down. I almost couldn't believe my eyes!

The GeForce GTX 570 was 6c higher than the SAPPHIRE TOXIC HD6950 at idle, and 1 degree Celsius warmer under load at 88c.

The cooler proves to be very capable, thanks to the redesigned structure and rear panel air flow system, forcing more heat outside the chassis. Under FurMark load, the fan spins to just over 2,000 rpm, dropping to around 1,750 rpm when gaming.

Temperatures are decent enough once put into context, though they're higher than previously seen on special-edition Sapphire cards. The extra power-draw, discussed on the previous page, is a contributing factor here.

If you are looking to upgrade to something that will give you more performance than you’re actually paying for there really isn’t a better choice right now.
During our testing we really stressed this card and it didn’t get louder than our Thermaltake SpinQ CPU fan. The temperatures stayed around the high 60s and low 70s Celsius. That isn’t bad for an AMD card in this category. I am very pleased with the way that Sapphire has tweaked this card.
In conclusion, this card has proven to be one of the best values for the money on the market. One last thing you should be aware of is that these cards will need lots of fresh air to remain cool. A case with good air-flow is going to be a must especially in Crossfire X. With these things in mind these cards are going to give you performance that you’ll have to see to believe. I give this card a Solid Editor’s Choice on this one, its fast, cool and overcloked!!!

Here we see the Toxic card finishes 2°C warmer at load than the reference card with stock clocks. This is a result of the factory overclock, so that's no surprise. And since the Toxic card doesn't come with a custom cooler, we don't see lower temperatures as we've come to expect from Sapphire. So there's nothing terribly shocking or impressive here; a reference cooler and an overclock equals higher temperatures. Pretty straightforward.

SAPPHIRE Technology was the first company to implement cooling for PC graphics cards based on Vapor Chamber Technology in 2007, and has Trademarked their Vapor-X Chamber Name sake ... but the Technology is in use on just about ALL Reference cards these days, from AMD/ATI and nVidia.

A few good reads about it all,
