Asrock z68 extreme3 does not overclock AT ALL - Page 12

I was able to get my board stable at 4.9 GHz eventually using the test bios mentioned in the first post, however after flashing it my board acted like it was bricked until I did a 2 hr battery pull.

I just got my i7-2700k, hopefully I can hit 5ghz at least with this board but I don't have a graphics yet and no OS installed so it's going to take a while to find out.

Well turns out my e3 g3 is DOA, so I'm going to ship it AsRock and see what happens. If they give me back repaired or replacement, I'm just going to sell it and grab an Asus P8Z68 V Pro instead.

I just got one of these up and running night before last. I updated the bios immediately as it shipped with 1.20. It did fix a few issues for me. There are still some I'm trying to figure out, but for the most part everything seems to be working well. Not quite as refined as my old p8p67 pro 3.1, but it's substantially cheaper of course. I'm having trouble getting my bclk to stay at 100.0. I've been told disabling spread spectrum is the fix for that. I'm gonna give it a shot.

I know this thread is from older Bios version (for the most part) But I'm up to date on my Bios with an asrock ex 3 gen 3 with a I5 2500k and have this exact issue.

I can OC to 4.4 easily with minimal changes, but when I try 4.5, even boosting my vcore to 1.45 just results in a BLACK screen with "70" displayed on the mobo LED...
I've tried various settings but no matter what I do to cstates / load line / fixed or offset vcore / I can't boot into windows or even get back into BIOS without having to unplug the power and do a CMOS button reset.

Any suggestions? Maybe a setting I'm missing somewhere?
4.4 seems pretty stable but I haven't done full tests on it outside 10 mins of prime and OCCT. Temps were solid high 50's to low 60's.

what is magic about the 45 multiplier number?

I rebuilt my old system (from a Gigabyte mobo) to a new ASRock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3, swapping all my old system's components over and making a clean baseline.

Reading through, I see most of the posts here are talking about close to 4.5 OC or higher, but if all I want to do is get a modest 4.0 stable OC and give myself a little boost, the general consensus is that if I don't have a faulty board, I should be good. Correct?

Also, anyone had BSOD memory dump issues with this board?
Not saying it's connected, because that's usually not the case, but just curious...
