Heatsink Question

I need to attach this heatsink kit to my 6970 before I install an Accelero XTREME Plus.

The kit is supposed to come with some sort of adhesive, as per the picture, but it did not.

What should I buy in order to attach those heatsinks to the card?

thermal adhesive or thermal tape is what you are looking for. Thermal adhesive is an epoxy like material that is thermally conductive, and will more or less weld the heatsink to the chip. The disadvantage of it is that it is permanent, and if you attempt to remove the heatsink you are more likely to rip the chip itself off the PCB and do irrepairable damage to both.

Thermal tape on the other hand is not permanent, and is commonly found between the memory chips on a ram module and the heatspreader. Some forms of thermal tape are not permanent or are semi-permament, allowing you to pull it off at a later date, while others are more permanent. The disadvantage though is that thermal tape is not quite as conductive as thermal grease or thermal epoxy.

If you plan on leaving the accelero on there, go for the epoxy. If not (such as when RMAing it or switching the heatsink out to a better card), the go for the tape.

Prolly gonna go with the tape. The word "permanent" does not agree with me.

Any recommendations for some good tape?
