Nvidia forever ignoring custom color profile support in full screen games? - Page 2

Goebish: Not working for me in Dota2 frown.gif

earlier i could get it working by using Color Clutch on Steam.exe, but they blocked that somehow.
I found that it won't work with every games, as expected as my code doesn't do anything "magic":

- loads a .icc or .icm file containing vcgt-tags
- convert it to gamma ramps
- apply it at regular intervals with a call to SetDeviceGammaRamp()

I'm thinking about new methods, I'll keep you informed.

Thanks for testing and reporting.

I found a solution for this !

While hexediting .dll files from DOTA2 I saw something interesting in sharedapidx9.dll:
-nogammaramp

So I went to steam, added -nogammaramp to DOTA2 launch options and bingo, it keeps my color profile smile.gif

It seems to work with a few Valve games, I could get it to work with Portal 2 too, but didn't work with Half Life 2.

So... one more specific workaround wink.gif

Registed purely to say, thank you so much for that fix goebish!

I had specifically noticed the problem with DOTA2 in recent weeks but I figured it was going to be the same old NVIDIA/colour profile shennanigans with no solution. Wow. That launch option is a gem.

And as for your CPKeeper tool, that also looks great and I look forward to using it with Far Cry 3 and a few other games, since they always seem off-colour. Does the NVIDIA panel happen to save those profiles or do you know how I can create one for my display with the values I have calibrated in the Control Panel?

Hi Harmonica.
I don't know how (or if) you can export your current profile to a .icc or .icm file.

Please give me 1 or 2 days and I'll add an option in CPKeeper to grab and save your current profile(s) gamma ramp and use it afterward.

And oh ! I have been given a DOTA2 invite 2 days ago... This thing just looks über complicated with its 6 to 9 months learning curve tongue.gif

That would be great to have that option, thanks so much smile.gif My display is nice, but unfortunately it is a bit on the green side and its own controls do nothing, so only the NVIDIA calibration really works (don't know if there's actually a windows config that I should be using...).

On DOTA: If you follow guides for the basics, and for how to play specific heroes (ie videos by people like dotacinema, Purge or LuminousInverse, amongst others) then you can easily get into the swing of things quite quickly. But yes, it's more of a hobby (timesink!) than a pick-up-and-play experience smile.gif

Geobish you should have let me know, I have ALOT of invites, let me know if you need some for your friends, dota can be tough learning alone! biggrin.gif

@Harmonica: I added a button to grab current gamma ramps in CPKeeper in case you don't have a .icc or .icm file, you can try it, it should work with Far Cry 3 in DX11 mode.

@bQvle: I already asked you for an invite in a PM when I found the trick for the no gamma ramp.
Well, now I know who to ask if I need more wink.gif Thanks !
