Why do you think I posted the FPS counts? A 5-6% difference isn't the 10% you were claiming. I didn't say there was NO difference. Please re-read my post since you didn't understand it the first time.

What? I was never claiming the 6950 wasn't faster. It's not by nearly as much as you seem to think though, on average.

Now you're trying to change your argument.
I didn't change any argument. I said that on average its ~10% faster. Yes, it is. When I said that I was not referring to just the specific review I linked to but various ones I've seen. Secondly, the other time I used an example, I made no mention of a game tested in the review.

Even still, there are some games where the 6950 is more than 10% faster, and sometimes where it is less, but the calculating the performance advantage the 6950 has over the 560 Ti (in percentage) the average comes to about 10%. This is just one review of many, and of course they all have varied results but TechSpot reviews are generally very good with a fair variety of games and not too many pointless benchmarks. (eg. 3dMark 05/06 etc)

I never changed my argument. You just failed to read anything properly, so I put it in simple terms. The 6950 is faster in twice as many games as the GTX 560 Ti. What would be more important is minimum FPS but the 6950 would be faster there too. That means the 6950 is the better buy for the OP, Simple.

I guess math isn't big in the UK huh? You do realize an average includes all of the samples tested, even the ones where the 6950 loses. Please go through that review at 1920x1200 and calculate the average difference between the two... I'll wait.

Like the one I linked with the 560 beating the 6950 in Crysis 2?

The review you linked doesn't even support that unless you're talking about 2560x1600, which doesn't matter since this guy plays at 1920x1080. You pulled 10% out of your bum, lol.

You probably should since you're doing a poor job of supporting this one.

1GB cards have been around for 3 years.. You can't keeping assuming 1GB is going to be enough at 1080p.

Fact of the matter is.

- perform the same
- cost the same

However the AMD has:

- 2GB Vram
- Better CFX scaling

Thus its huge lead in the poll. I think Nvidia should have made all their reference cards 2GB, it would have made all the difference.

Thread Starter
I ended up buying the XFX 2GB card, over the others, because of the warranty, 2 GB ram, and physical dimensions. I'll do some comparison benchs between the current 295 and the new 6950 when I get the card. $250 after rebate.

Thanks everyone for voting!

I was referring to the games the 6950 was faster in, which comes to about 10% overall. That's where I got it from. No offense intended, but you seem to be confused as to how to work out an average. I specifically mentioned "the performance advantage the 6950 has.." - by which I implied the games it is faster at, not "All the games". You don't really seem to read properly. I'll admit I should have rephrased my initial argument better, but at least I didn't resort to petty insults. He's made his choice now anyway so I won't bother with this.

Not many games use Physx, and the 6950 scales better with crossfire and apparently can OC higher.

to spinejam . . . i wonder why when the system has the 6950 it takes a hit at cpu test2. beats the 560 ti on all others - i think. the results seem to be influenced by cpu test 2.

According to this article, they're pretty close. I'd get the GTX 560 Ti because of CUDA. But if your only intention is to game I'd just get whichever is more quiet.
