Skyrim on Vaio Laptop?

Thread Starter
Hello everyone,

Im trying to leave my gaming days behind me as I get old, mature, and boring.
Nevertheless I want to play Elder Scrolls V as my last game before venturing into the ****ed up world of grown ups.

I will be getting a Vaio Laptop model "S" and I wanted to know if you guys think I will be able to run Skyrim on it.
The laptop specs are the following:

Intel Core i5 2520M processor (2.50GHz) with Turbo Boost up to 3.20GHz
AMD Radeon 6470M (512MB VRAM)
8GB (4GBx2) DDR3-SDRAM-1333

Being a grown up doesn't mean you can't play games. What a nonsensical notion. Might as well say 'I'm not watching films any more because I'm a grown up.' kookoo.gif

Anyways, I would imagine you'll be able to play Skyrim on it, though probably not at highest settings.

I'm sure given the date of your post you've already ventured out and purchased Skyrim and found out for yourself.
In case you haven't, or for others wondering, Skyrim runs quite well on the 6470m.

I just bought my a Vaio VPCCB at the end of 2011 - i5 CPU 8GB ram.

I logged over 120hrs in just a few weeks (not proud of it but damn that game was addictive).

I have an older gaming rig (2006) w:
2 radeon x1600 crossfired with Athlon 64 x2 2.2GHZ, 4 GB OCZ Gold.

Didn't even bother using it, used my laptop instead wired to my monitor.

Obviously don't run on highest settings, but you can still set them pretty high and the visual:performance ratio is very good.

I was very impressed how well the Vaio, and mainly, the 6470m GPU handled this game.

I would run on all medium and at native resolution for a good combination of Visuals/performance.

Just to add a little information to the pot.

I have an old HP with a Intel 2.2ghz dual core, and 4650M and I can play Skyrim on low/med settings.

I even installed BF3 and it actually plays pretty good on low settings, rather amazing!

And to add to this ancient post, I don't know how old you are, but I am 40 and I bought Skyrim the day it came out. Only difference I see in the way I play now versus the way I did 15-20 years ago, is I get bored with games a lot easier/quicker now and put them down. Now is that because I am older and have more to do (responsibilities?) or is it because the games are not as good?

Could be that the games out nowadays are rehashes of gameplay mechanics we're used to for so long.

Binary Domain? It plays like Gears of War.

Oh, and of course, when i felt MW3 wasn't EVEN that old, and now they have Black Ops 2 on pre-order. This is well, stupid. They should've supported the first MW1 with all the content from the later COD games like Valve does with TF2, but well, Activision is Activision.

I mean, we used to play games well past their release dates for 2 years or more, but now? They're considered a 6-month old commodity.

Counterstrike 1.6 is STILL being played to this day.
