Switching ram slots causes heaps of errors.

I've had some trouble with my Ram which i wrote about in another thread. Anyhow I decided to swap the ram modules so they were in the opposite ram slots.

I have two slots in my laptop each with a 4GB module in it. To make it easier to understand

Slot 1: Module 01
Slot 2: Module 02

No errors

If i switch them over

Slot 1: Module 02
Slot 2: Module 01

Heaps of errors, like 12000 from the get go!

Is it a bad slot or bad ram? I've already organised to send the ram back before i found this out so i'll be sending it back anyway and i have already purchased a replacement pair of stick, but this just baffles me.

bad slot i am almost sure of that. it wasn't a good idea to send the RAM only, since those were not the problem, you should the send the laptop for Mobo replacement.

Sometimes it can be solved with a flashlight and trying to move the pins in the slot, but it isn't a recommended solution.

That easy to say now. I installed the ram and got heaps of BSODs, then I ran memtest and got 12000 errors. I only thought about swapping them over now. Ah well.

I'll have to contact HP and see what they have to say.

Sorry mate,it is unfortunate of course, try calling them and tell them that the mobo needs a replacement. Tell us what they told you.
