That's exactly what OCN is for. You should have joined earlier! You could have seen what blocks fit what cards.

Very unique build!

How strong it is has nothing to do about the age nor the cost. The first i7 chips have been out about 3 years... as the X58 as well.

And to spend $2K on the 3yr old tech that can be had for $1200 is just.... idk

I shop at Newegg. Maybe you should try that as well.

EDIT: Not hating or anything -- Just wondering what the reasoning behind the choices? From price vs performance on the other chips that are released now.

Update... some performance benchmarking.

4.5 GHz.. not too shabby. I got a lot of money tied up in this thing and I don't want to to melt anything down.

During the burn test the CPU temp briefly hit 70C, which is my personal limit, once it completed temps went back down into the 30s within 10 seconds. Man this thing moves some heat!

Think I will keep the OC where it is, unless anyone has any voltage suggestions to keep things below 70C at full load. Besides, I have this mini-atx Maximus IV Gene and 2500K processor on my workbench now that is demanding attention (and a LOT cheaper to replace if something goes wrong).
