Help buying & picking new ram.

Thread Starter
I buying a new system this week. I'm getting a 1090T with a Asus Crosshair V. I will be getting bulldozer later on, and transfer the 1090T to another system.

Both are basically the same price, maybe off by a few dollars.
These are the 2 ram I have picked.
Corsair Dominator GT 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-2000 CL9-10-9-27 1.65v
Corsair Dominator GT 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1866 CL9-10-9-27 1.5v

These are the ram I'm sticking too, I wont consider anything else. So please don't suggest any.
Which one would be a much better choice for my system.
I thank you for any help you give.

Corsair Dominator GT 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-2000 CL9-10-9-27 1.65v These ones, I bet you could lower the voltage on them and they are guaranteed to run at 2000mhz.

So the DDR3-2000 version wont run 2000mhz @ 1.65v. I would need to lower voltage?

what kind of motherboard and cpu do you have?

In bios you might be able to get to 2000 at 1.5/1.65V

might have to overclock it to get those speeds..had to do so with mine to get my at 1800 at 8-8-7-23 1t with NB at 3200 (doing it for benching)
but my ram is the gskill flares at 1800, 9-9-9-24 at 1.65 lowered the volts down to 1.5 and is stable at 1800 9-9-9-24...

Youll have to raise the ratio of your cpu to get the Ram at 2000
but again dont know your set up

Go to User CP located in the top bar
navigate to system information
click add system...

put your system information there so we know what you have and or planning no getting...
this wil help out

SI I should get the 1866 1.5v version instead? Or should I stick with 1600 ram?

Thank you for helping.

i would get the 1.5v ram just cuz it has lower voltage. plus you dont really need fast ram if youre not going to be benchmarking. 1333/1600mhz is more than enough for gaming, etc.

Is there a reason you won't consider any other ram kits? I'm just curious since there are alot of better performing dimms out there for less money.
