GTX 470 or GTX 550 Ti - Page 2

maybe some amd/ati card is that what he wants.. try to find some benchmarks.
the reason of my recommendation is due downsampling is not needed, because you have excellent antialiasing control with ati cards.
you may get very good AA in dx11 without using DS which nvidia cannot provide at this time.

this means you get a better quality at a higher fps rate.
but this also depends on the resolution you want to play on...

sry for goin almost offtopic, but i regret it that i bought nvidia.. even thou its the 580 with 3gb i want to use later for sli..

heck if money is your problem get a GTX460 which is slightly better than the 550ti - if you can GTX470. i have owned a GTX550ti and it ran most games at 1920 x 1080p high/max resolution but no AA etc. i have purchased the GTX570 to iron out those odd stuttering scenes in a few games like the witcher 2. can you get a loan?? lol may as well get a GTX 590, if your good youll have it payed off before its the same price as a GTX550ti tongue.gif

Thanks 4 all your replies guys I would defiantly get the 470 , It would be better to get 570 but they there are 2 stores that I know of and there selling it for an insane price, they are selling the 570 for 2500 SAR & the 590 for 4500
That's why I asked about the 470
I have a 550 watt gigabyte PSU will this be enough

Just to chime in a little - I have a GTX 550 ti superoverclocked to 1Ghz and has benchmarks equal to a GTX 460. I plan to go with another 550ti in SLI and be able to handle Battlefeild 3 and Battlefield 4 ... haha... for $140 its a good card. I think the 460s are in the $160-$190 arena.

Everyone here will agree that the 470 does outperform the 550 Ti.

GTX 550 Ti G3D Marks: 1880
GTX 470 G3D Marks: 2968

The 470 cost $70 more than the 550, but en then; it is a higher price/performance card.

The 470 is better than the 550 in both performance and price.

470 blows the 550 out of the water. It's faster than a 560 ti clock for clock, and they are great overclockers.

I'd recommend going with non reference cooling if you can. Or, just buy a vf3000f cooler. Makes a huge difference.

Betwen those two definitely get the GTX 470, and if you overclock, you can get GTX 480 perfomance easy.

I have been able to play all those game you list except skyrim with ultra and high quality at 1080p with no problem at all. Lately I have been having some problems with last WHQL driver relase, but that's just my card not liking this drivers, because two of my friends have the same card and they are not having problems with it.

As other have been saying if you can extend your budget get the 570, so you can be more future prof.

Most definitely the 470 will outperform the 550ti... I was just throwing that out there. I would like to have owned a 470.
