dual core or quad

Hi guys,
Which processor would be better the Intel Core i3 2100 or AMD phenom 2 X4 955 BE. I won't overclock. Primary uses would be gaming and internet browsing. I'm gonna use Windows 7 Ultimate (already have it) and Ubuntu. Also sudgest a suitable mobo under 70 dollars. I'll use 2x2GB Corsair RAM. Also which graphics card would be better, the Radeon HD5750 or Geforce GTS 450. Also please suggest the brand of the graphics card under 130$. So far I have narrowed down on the MSI GTS 450 Cyclone Graphics Card .

Thanks

the Core i3 2100 is faster if not overclocking, and from what ive seen those two are pretty close in performance. And if your lucky you can find a 460GTX under $130 usually. Usually includes rebate or if you can snag a open box one off newegg.

Clock for clock the i3 would be faster but the x4 will spank it due to the number of cores, definitely go down that route.

IMO AMD 955 is better, 450gts is CRAP, get a 1g gtx 460, youll cry yourself to sleep thanking yourself for getting a 460 instead of 450gts. im that serious, price wise, u can get them for under 100 often now.

get the 1 GIG its way better

brand- who cares the card will stomp a 450gts anyday, just dont get gigabyte if ur canadain as they dont do canadian RMA

mobo samples

since ur not ocing, im ignoring power phases on my selection and going soley on price

Definitely quad core. Much better for multitasking, and its nice to be able to run netflix on one screen and game on another without issue.

D

Oh and agreed, go with the 460...450 is crap.

i3 will spank the 955 in everything except cinebench and things. Its not far off even then.

Much better CPU for the money at stock speeds.

$69.95 Sandy Bridge CPU

and it's not bad if running a single GPU.

cheap is nice.

i agree, that if you aren't going to be overclocking (sad) then get the 2100. I had one and it played BFBC2 on high settings no problem with a 5850, it's a very underrated processor. I got mine for $80
