My EC1 Review

Thread Starter
Hello,
I just got the EC1 today played with it. I want to give you my Thought and opinions about it.

First of all, my main point purchase the EC1 is to find the IME3.0 successor, in this review I'll let you know what I'm thinking about it and if it is exactly a "successor".

Second, In this review, As my older one, I will categorize every term according to this:
  • Sensor
  • Lift Of Distance (LoD)
  • Shape
  • Build quality (feel of the metrials, force for press, Cable and Feets and weight)
  • Conclusion (final Thought about it, pros and cons)
I want to make the review to be straight to the point, so Lets start.

1.Sensor:

I will start by saying that the 1000hz is alittle bit jitter, according to test I made:

500hz test (it actually shows me 455Hz on mouse-checker software):

I cannot make the mouse to skip or make it to present any kind of accelration.

The mouse have midrate amount of prediction (above average), seems to be the same as the MX518 I had in the past.

2.Lift Of Distance:

The mouse LoD is bugged on 1000 and 2000, it tracks more than the designed LoD [1.5].
At 500CPI it flawlessly working.

In general, the LoD are like it was designed to be:
QcK Mass - 1.2-1.5m/m - 1CD.
Talent - 1.2-1.5m/m - 1CD.
9HD - 1.2-1.5m/m - 1CD.
on 1000,2000cpi's it seems that if I quick lift and place the mouse on the pad the mouse is going up(buggy-track).

3.Shape

The mouse is really close to the IME3.0 shape - it builds very close to the IME3.0 but slightly higher profile and the IME3.0 is slightly larger.

Size comperison with both Deathadder and IME3.0:

Overall size comperison:

Build quality:

The shape metrials seems to be well made of plastics, I have the plastic version (Black color) with glossy sides which also not crap as the Deathadder's sides, I found it to be very good and well made.
The scroll wheel metrial is feel quite cheap.

The force of press for the main buttons is nice and crisp, but I would LOVE it if it was alittle more stiffer.
The scroll wheel have alot of Resistances, but works perfect.
The thumb-buttons seems to have higher travel for reach them out, but both also crisp and nice.

Cable - Thick and very flexible, I like it
WITH MOUSE BUNGEE.

Feets: Huge, and fast glide, but have nice amount of stopping power and low friction.

Weight - dont really sure but it the same/alittle low than the Xai.

4.Conclusion:

The EC1 is very good mouse, the sensor works flawlessly on low cpi (@500, 1000 as I said slightly jitters and 1000,2000cpi's are LoD-bugged), the mouse itself is very close to the 3.0 Shape and the metrials are well made of plastics (Black version).

Pro's ( + ), Con's ( - ) and preferences(+/-)
Pro's:
+3.0's Shape lovers? - this is your guy.
+Flawlessly sensor ONLY for low-sensitivity players.
+Well made of plastics (black version)
+Huge feets - very durable, teflons and have nice amount of friction and stopping power.
+Nice and crisp buttons.

Con's:
-LoD bugged on 1000,2000's.
-Slightly jitter on 500 @1000hz

preferences:
+/-The Buttons Could be stiffers.
+/-Gloss sides
+/-Midrate/Above average Prediction / Angle Snapping / Drift Control / Mouse-correction.
+/-High amount of friction/Resistances from the wheel
+/-The cable Might be too annoying for some beacause of its flexiblity.

I see your EC1 had the same flaws as my EC2 did in the review I made (Jitter and LOD).

Good work on the review Avinin1.

Yeah, but thats not that bad, as far as you low sensitivity....
and 500hz is also more stable than 1000hz

Oh really? thats intersting..
I wish Artisman pads was high/medium friction just like the QcK / Raindrop XL...

I couldn't get the EC2 to give me stable 500hz. Did you set this with hidusb or by holding mouse4 (or mouse5 can't remember) while plugging it in?

LOD is the same for me on all CPI levels.
Didn't like the glossy sides in the end.

I'm actually using the software that comes with the hidusb folder calls dimr.exe to check the Hz,
I get stable 455-456hz.
I set it with the closest side button to the main buttons while plug it in, not bump it by software.

Found out this mouse doesn't work out on my Steelseries Experience I-2 at all on 500DPI, but on 1000/2000 it skips around a bunch.

It's not a huge deal for me since I mainly use my Zowie GT-F, which still suffers from the 1000/2000 DPI LoD bug for anyone that's curious.
