HD 6770 Crossfire vs HD 6870/6950

Which should I buy? I'm on a budget of around 200 (after I rma'd the 6870 in my sig and they refunded) and I'm just checking that buying an HD 6870 is a better choice than 6770x2. I saw some benches and 6770x2 is on par with 6990 (!!!) in some games but it is 30fps in others and I'm really not sure about this choice.

Those "benchmarks" mean nothing. I prefer 1 card over 2 xfired cards, but it depends on the game.

Single 6870. Don't go straight out CF. Buy the most powerful single card you can, and upgrade to CF when you can afford it, or when they are cheaper in the future.

Just buy the 6850 and Overclock it to become pretty much a 6870. Or if you can... id buy the 6950, unlock/flash it to 6970, then overclock that.

And as the above user said, 68xx cards overclock extremely well. My TFII 6870 is at 970/1150 with voltage untouched.

I agree totally. You will be happier in the long run when all you have to do is buy another 68xx series card and be on performance par again. This all being said that you are on a budget.

Yeah B careful about the flashing thing, it makes RMAs a pain

I see your points, and I'll be buying the 6870.
Thanks for your advice!
