These laptops have already been discontinued?? dang. I bought mine 3 weeks ago for $500 (more expensive here in Canada) to replace my previous laptop (gateway nv5922h) that had a core i3-380m + 5650m and I gotta say K53TA this is actually quite a bit faster! the 6650m alone seems to only be about 10-20% faster then the 5650m but when in crossfire it's about 30-50% faster in most games. Unfortunately mine has the cmo screen so it's suffering from the grainy issues as well frown.gif

However the main problem I'm experiencing with my K53TA is high temps, with my mild overclock of 2.0Ghz @ 1.00v while in crossfire i max out at 83C while playing Crysis, which seems quite a bit higher then what most people are getting with theres. This is actually my second unit as my first had even higher temps maxing out at 85C! My ambient temps aren't very high at only 20-25C and none of the vents are blocked so I'm not really sure why I'm getting such high temps confused.gif

Other then that though this laptop is freakin awesome and so far has well exceeded my expectations for its price, it's really a shame they discontinued it. From what I hear though they're replacing it with the K43TA and K73TA with roughly the same specs and prices. Here's my dirt3, Crysis, JC2 and BFBC2 performance vs my previous gateway laptop with the 5650m:

Gateway nv5922h (i3-380m@2.53GHz + 5650m) | Asus K53TA (a6-3400m@2.0Ghz + 6720G)

Dirt3: High:29fps Med:34fps | High:50fps Med:57fps
Crysis benchmark loop: High:22.8fps | High:34.2fps
BFBC2: Med:30-40fps | Med:40-50fps
JC2 dark tower: Custom:28.35fps | Custom:47.22fps

And heres my 3dmark11 score with the K53TA:
P1627

I bought this on 09/09/2011. I have played TF2, CS:S, and Eve on it with decent graphic settings, and max temperatures of 66c (so far). Have not formatted it, have not overclocked, only added another stick of the Samsung ram. No cooling mods yet, but I am interested in making some holes under the fan area, and adding IC diamond thermal paste. I have the model with the LG screen, and the graininess has been fixed with the bios updates (206 and 207).

This is my first laptop, and I am pretty content with my purchase. I still have 4 days left to return this to best buy, I am confident that I will not return it. I pray this laptop will be allow me to play Battlefield 3. I do plan on overclocking it around the release date of BF3. ASUS K53TA FTW!!! smile.gif

Same here! I lucked out with getting the Samsung screen. But I still see some graininess when I turn the brightness to normal levels. But when I turned down my display color image settings, the graininess is hardly noticeable. So I'm essentially masking any noticeable grain. Here are my settings: Hue 0, Saturation 125, Brightness -22, Contrast 100, Temperature 5800k. Maybe these setting will help those who still have the graininess problem. These settings might help mask the grain.

But the image quality and brightness of this screen still look better than my 4 year old Toshiba Satellite lcd screen, so no complaints here.

This laptop is the best PC in the house at the moment. Other desktops in the house are a 4 year old HP AMD64 5200+ with wATI x1650pro, & 3 year old Core2Duo 2.73ghz dual core with GT240 ddr5 graphics, and this laptop's quadcore overclocked cpu beats those 2-3 year old desktops in gaming. I'm enjoying Crysis 2, Deus Ex, Batman Arkham, and Dirt3. I Can't wait to get Battlefield3 and Batman Arkham 2 later this Fall.

The highest temperature of the CPU I've seen so far are 70 to 75C with Crysis 2 and Dirt3 with very mild overclocking. No overclocking of GPU, and CPU is usually only overclocked around 2.4 & 2.6 ghz.
