I ordered the Planar because I honestly think that since Planar specializes in displays that their monitor will be pretty superior. I know there haven't been many reviews so I guess I'll be posting one as soon as I've spent a little time with it.

Wish me luck. I ordered from Provantage.

looking forward to your feedback on it!

Good choice. I am completely happy with my monitor and can't wait until I get around to picking up my other 2.

The only issue I have seen is there is a very little bit of backlight bleeding at the top and bottom. But it's so minor that I have to actually look for it to see it, and only when viewing very dark images (like a space sim or a black image).

But all of the pros outweigh that one single con. No LCD monitor is perfect in every way, it just doesn't happen.

I have heard issues of some people having screen tearing issues due to firmware, but Planar will replace the monitor for free with updated firmware using an advanced exchange. So you don't have to go without the monitor and it doesn't cost you a thing, not even shipping.

The Acer HN274H is 120 Hz, and it's fantastic. That's what I use

Atm the BenQ is best when it comes to pure 2d gaming with the least input lag. Planar is like descent

Both Digitalversus and 3Dvisionblog confirm a 15-17ms input lag which makes it the worst 120hz in that aspect. If you google gd235hz or gd245hq overdrive, you'll find many forums posts talking about the oversharpen issue.
I bought the GD245 when it first came out. It was the first 120 on the market and I have used it over a year and a half now. Still using it, but I would not recommend it now. Better 120s have come out since.

I tested it cloned to a CRT and highspeed camera, got the same ~16ms lag (edit: delay in screen response time) as the other sites. Overdrive sharpen is an issue for the minute it takes you to change the setting, an overrated issue imo. Backlight bleed from the bottom bezel is more annoying.

Annoying enough for me to replace at ~$400 for a new 120? Nope!

Actually that's not true. The BenQ is crap for just about everything. In games there is extreme black crush, panel uniformity is crap, backlight bleed is horrendous, and colors are awful. Out of all the 120HZ monitors I've actually concluded after much research that the BenQ is a crappy choice in general, even if it average 6MS input lag. The Planar averages 10 and anything under 14 is considered amazing.

Right above the BenQ would be the Alienware OptX AW2310. Still a not so great choice but it's a much better general purpose 120HZ.

The newer produced BenQ does have less problems with them. So I Disagree with you on that.

BTW, I read on Alienware website that it says "blablablabla NEW blablabla" on the AW2310. Has it been improved?
