Artisan Hien L Soft - Pics and Light Review

In case anyone was looking at the Artisan Hien Soft, I got some pictures of the large in dark blue. The other mousepads in the pics are the puretrak talent and the zowie g-rf.

It is amazing how these artisan pads sit so well on a desk. The rubber is like not very sticky to your fingers, but once its in place flat on the surface of a desk, it doesn't move at all and almost sticks as if it had a light adhesive.

Fabric is not as hard or rough as the zowie G-RF, but rougher than the talent. It also is literally perfect on the edges, no fray look at all. It looks like it will hold up well after prolonged use as well. The foam is similar softness to the talent, but not quite as thick.

Found the LOD to be no different on hien than on the other two pads.

Unlike the amazon picture i've seen, it seems perfect balanced in terms of feedback up/down vs left/right.

I think the best part of it is that the surface is very smooth and the mouse moves extremely freely, but there is a slight feedback from the surface since its not perfectly smooth. Its not rough like those textured hard pads like the old func pads, but is in my opinion a nice and welcome change from the typical weaved cloth pads we've seen up until now.

So far the mice I have tested and had success with are:
mico
kinzuadder
xai
ec2
intellimouse 1.1

Not sure they were worth the premium they currently cost due to price+shipping from japan, but if they become mainstream on amazon with lower shipping, I think they are a top contender for mice surfaces. Been playing eve, tf2, cs1.6, black ops, sc2 on and off for the past two days with it and have no intention of going back to the talent.

On a last note, I find the size to be much more practical than some of the other pads i've had like the QcK+, Talent, etc. Their large is about half an inch shorter in height and slightly shorter in width. Even as a low sensitivity CS/FPS player, I haven't had that "doh ran out of mouse pad" moment yet =D

twas assumed it was the same sensor due to the WoW legendary. I don't think kimrom really confirmed it. It has light prediction.

I have the soft and I find it quite uncomfortable. The material just has a weird texture to it and it just doesn't play well with my wrists. I suppose I would get used to it and develop calluses if I used it for a long time, but I prefer to stick to my QcK.

Really? I dont know if the soft is any different, but I haven't once thought that it was uncomfortable.

I used a G-RF before as my mousepad and then as something under my keyboard and never found it rough. I think the hien is a bit softer than the G-RF.

Personally I have no issues with either and sort of prefer the light texturing of the pad.

My hands spend "alot" of time on mousepads though. Like i said before, I'm gonna be using these until their worn out I think, bought the pair for my both the mouse and under the keyboard.

The Hien (and the Zowie pads) definitely need some getting used to if you haven't used a similar pad before. They are definitely a bit rougher on your wrist than the majority of cloth pads out. I was very close to sending my Hien VE back because it was uncomfortable, but because I liked the glide I decided to give it a couple of days - now it's very comfy and doesn't bother my wrist at all even on long, quick movements.

If you're coming from something impeccably smooth, like the talent, it's definitely gonna take some time to get used to.

I love my Hien Soft, but wish I had gone with the large instead of the medium.

Great! I've been waiting for someone to review this mousepad. Also, I'm not quite familiar what the term feedback means, can you explain it a little bit?
