Razer imperator 4G firmware update fail

post #1 of 17
Thread Starter
Hello everyone.
I am wondering how to properly update my firmware from 1.00 to 1.01 with ver 2.00 driver. I think I did what the update window and Razer site told me, but after checking firmware version it says "No hardware found" with my mouse plugged in and operational all the time from the beginning of an update to the failing of one.

Am I missing something?
At what point should I unplug (if at all) and replug it and what else should I do because my driver window is open all the time, should I close it or even uninstall it?

This is Really starting to upset me
I haven´t flashed firmware before and I am new in this so be kind to me.

firmware version 1.01 should only be functional with Imperator 2012 which I own atm.

Has anyone had this issue before? I tried all my USB ports including USB 3.0-s

Looked up "Razer", and "fail", and found this thread among many others.

You are not being very helpful. Thanks for the info though, but I know that already. This fail however is on my behalf and I am doing something wrong(can´t quite put a finger to it). Razer products I have owned and currently own have never let me down, despite the overall crappy reviews they get. (Lycosa for example). It´s a risk buyibg Razer and I hardly recommend any of its products (maybe only Deathadder) because chances of getting crappy hardware is about 60% with Razer.

Because Logitech products never break and the support is fantastic.

@OP
Not sure about imperator, but for my DAs and Naga I simply left the mice plugged in, installed the latest drivers, and installed the latest firmware updates for each of them. If you do all that, I'm not sure of the problem. Of course, make sure you're running any driver/firmware updates as Administrator (obvious but just making sure).

In the release notes for the firmware updater, they have specific instructions, to manually navigate to it; it doesn't sound like you are supposed to re-flash the mouse FW from the mouse driver GUI(?). This is definitely different than how I updated my DA. Maybe the downloaded file just installs the updating program, and/or latest firmware image, rather than actually executing it?

"Important Note: Please note this download is for the firmware updater only. After downloading the updater please be sure to go to: Programs > Razer > Razer Imperator > Razer Imperator Firmware Updater. Once you are there click on “Firmware Updater†and follow the on screen instructions to flash the new firmware to your mouse. Note: Compatible with Razer Imperator 2012 only. "

Another thing to make sure of, since you say the flashing program isn't finding the hardware, is that you have the mouse connected directly to a USB port on the back of your PC (or any port directly on your laptop, if that's what you're using). Don't use any USB hubs, keyboard-mounted USB ports (usually these are only USB 1.1 and not USB 2.0), KVM switches, or anything else in between the mouse and PC. You should do this anyway, with a gaming mouse, but especially when trying to flash the firmware.

It gives me same error with ALL my USB ports on my motherboard. No hubs, extenders, connectors etc used and I double checked today with no better results. I did run "Programs > Razer > Razer Imperator > Razer Imperator Firmware Updater" as an administrator without any wanted outcome so all the offered options have already been tried, tried second time and then just to make sure tried again, otherwise I wouldn´t have made this thread at first place.
