Hehehe, they might have revolving OS teams, hopefully they are just testing people's reactions. It's not the best way to do it though, as it might cause an unfavourable reaction from people on the desktop, who might otherwise have thought it's a fine design choice for a touchscreen device like a tablet or a smartphone, just not for a desktop or a laptop.

The trouble with such radical departures is that they don't have enough time to assimilate what people really think about it on a daily basis, and it will take a lot more than the time they have for fine tuning Windows 8 to make anything even remotely resembling the Metro UI on the desktop work properly.

They might eventually find the right compromise with Windows 9, after they learned from their mistakes (just like they did with Windows Vista, where a lot of stuff also changed), but in my opinion, why mess with something that works, right ?

Take a look at OCN's impending new forum layout (see link in my sig). That's the proper way to do it - keep the identity of OCN, the stuff that works well, and add interesting and useful new features, so you can do more, with almost no learning curve (the opposite of Windows 8 in many cases, for example, where the Metro UI is so pathetic you are not even told you can start typing to search for something - and when you do find what you want, it's grouped in categories, with apps coming first - problem is if you searched for the UAC settings, it's in another category that you have to manually select, like I showed in my review).

95/xp/7 good

98/me/vista/ 8? bad...

Which means one thing its either going to flop like vista and only people who get it in oem with their computers are going to use it or Microsoft will build windows 9 or what ever quickly and it will be even better than 7

I would like so say off topic I have gone through this thread and found all the useful links you guys might find handy if you are running windows 8 or want to give it a shot if you find any more info that hasn't been mentioned feel free to post it
Nice job!

I just noticed you added my review.

I took the opportunity of being on the first page and updated the review with the hardware upgrades to the CPU and RAM, along with a PCI Wireless N 300Mbps adapter from TP-LINK, which is working fine, and also my experience with Steam and GFWL, which we already discussed a few posts back.

Sweet, im trying to get GFWL to work but every attempt so far has failed, I just hope its not something stupid like the new firewall.

If I get Windows 8 when it comes out and completely get rid of Metro... Will I be missing anything relevant?
