I just installed WIndows 8 Professional on my parents pc. They seem to like it. tongue.gif
They better, cause I'm not installing Windows 7 back on it. It felt horribly slow on 7. (AMD Sempron Dual-core) lolz

It is surprising how many older people like it, I was expecting them all to hate it and want to go back to XP but they all seem to find it easy to navigate due to the big Tile's meaning they can see Internet explorer, Calculator e.c.t really easily without having to go to start>all programmes>accessories e.c.t

like you said it runs a dream on lower end tech to be fair I think this after a few updates and a few tweak's could become one of Microsoft's best operating systems yet.

It works on computers, It works well on touch screen tablet and it works well on my phone.

Its good if you own a all in one system with a touchscreen because It eliminates the problem of a lot of mouse moving tongue.gif

Here's another useful tip that I found. Basically it adds a shutdown button to your Windows 8 start screen which normally takes 3 clicks.

Never thought of that.

Will add that to the main page as that's a vital problem with windows 8.

Just got to get home first tongue.gif

So I finally got around to testing the Release Preview.

I must say, contrary to popular opinion, I quite like the Tiles UI (I'll call it Tiles because the Metro name was ditched). The animations are fluid and the way tiles are organised is nice. Navigating through it seems a bit awkward at first (since you're so used to the traditional Desktop UI and Start button that has almost always been present) but I think, with a bit of use, it would really grow on me.

The ONLY thing I want to complain about is the frequent switching between the classic desktop UI and the Tiles UI when running most programs. Now if they want me to like and get used to the Tiles UI, why not incorporate all apps into the Tiles UI, just like Internet Explorer.

I think I would like Windows 8 much, much more, if they just stuck to one of the UIs (I would be perfectly happy with either), and then kept all OS operations and app launches within that UI, instead of putting some phone-like apps in the Tiles UI and the rest in the Desktop UI.

I actually prefer to keep most apps on the Desktop UI and the apps like weather on the tiles.

If you're on the Start screen you can right-click and select All Apps at the bottom right of the screen. This will show you the tiles for all programs as well as Accessories, Windows System, etc. I find it very useful.

I know that. I'm talking about launching and fully incorporating the apps within the Tiles UI, like Internet Explorer is within it.

Hey there, just installed windows 8 today and i really love it though i seem to have a problem. Don't really know the reason to it but from what i've gathered the pc gets a bsod that has to do with the video card. What i noticed is that as soon as i open more flash player using sites ( twitch.tv streams mainly) the crash occurs. Have any of you had this problem yet? I have a legacy Amd card ( hd 4850) and i'm using the standard drivers, the rest of the pc is new, ivy bridge platform. Thank you for any help.

I hate the fact that the IE from metro (or whatever they call it) is different from the desktop IE.

Also I have a issue with the audio of the music player, when I insert a usb device it completely messes up the volume.

when in metro the volume is fine and when in desktop it is reduced.
