Hey all,

I have windows 8 on my desktop and I love it so far!
Thing is, I want the login screen that you get when booting the PC, but I don't want to put in a password every time I lock the PC. I currently have it set up to bypass the login screen altogether, and go right to the desktop, but I WANT the login screen, just no password...is this a possibility?

Installed Windows 8 Pro over the weekend.

Installation was smooth.

Only issues I faced were my Saitek Cyborg keyboard not working and my Creative Titanium HD sound card producing no sound.

The keyboard was a rather easy fix. Windows was able to recognize the keyboard but the drivers would not install properly. I just had to get into the device manager, uninstall the drivers, and tell Windows to use HID device drivers instead. The keyboard seems to have all the functionality it did before.

The sound card is a different issue. Creative currently has beta drivers for Win8. The drivers installed successfully and the system has sound. The problem is after every reboot you lose your audio. So far there is no permanent fix. Solutions are to either change the mode from gamer/entertainment which brings the sound back or re-install the drivers after any reboot.

The OS itself seems to work pretty well. Apps and games just seem to load faster and run smoother.

I am not a huge fan of the tiles but it does allow you the desktop mode to stay clean.

Window key + W is starting to become my friend. Quickly allowing me to search for anything on my system

I would be interested in the answer to this myself...

Right click the bottom left corner, Run.

Type in netplwiz

untick, users must put in username and password to access this computer.

This allows you to go straight to the start screen without having to input your password, but I don't know of a way of having the login screen appear on its own.

Ok, thanks for that tip, I'll try it!
Also, Is there anywhere to get the login screen background (the Seattle skyline one) as a wallpaper? Everywhere I've looked online has it as an image, but it has notifications on it also it looks like its just a screenshot

So I've been using pin steam for a few of my games and I thought I'd do a little tile work =D work in progress cause I'm to sleepy.

Using Pin Steam app and some custom tiles I made, not done yet. Can't make it work in full size because I'd need a lot more games =D

Hey. Quick question before buying...

I finally decided to get Windows 8 Pro. I also got a new HDD for Christmas. If I buy the Win8 upgrade, what would be the best way to go about installing it on my new HDD? Would I first have to use the Windows 8 key to upgrade WIndows 7 on my old HDD, and then after that I could do a fresh install on the new HDD? Or another method might be installing Windows 7 on the new HDD first and then using the Win8 upgrade?
