Anyone else notice a 75% min fps increase in the M2033 benchmark?

Oh and so far I'm liking it, everything is running silky smooth, played Crysis, BC2 and M2033 so far.

BTW I'm all stock on the system, no overclocks.

Most Xbox games already have a PC port, and exclusives aren't coming over because they're, well, exclusive. And there's no point in adding an emulator because it will run like crap even on your fancy builds with 2600ks and 580s. Why? To emulate something well the hardware has to be exponentially more powerful (maybe atleast 7x or 8x) than what it's emulating. A nice PC is alot more powerful, but not so much that it would perform the task easily.

Hey, I'd like to run Xbox 360 exclusives on my PC too guys. But it's not happening.
Well sony did it on psp with psone games. If they have the source code is don't think it would be too far fetched to run 360 games natively.

PSP psone games were very slow on hombrew emulators but sony still pulled it off flawlessly.

Also a lot of people with a PC good enough to run 360 games may never buy a 360 and a 250 dollar xbox is still going to be sold to people with 300 dollar computers who otherwise wouldn't be able to play 360 games. This is by far the unconfirmed feature I'm most exited about.

haven't done any game benches yet.

Sweet, haven't thought to try games on there will give it a go in a bit.

How come you don't have any overclock on?

Nice, windows 8 was designed for your kind of netbook, windows 7 was great for netbooks but only the Windows 7 basic with most of its content removed.

Its not a bad os once you remove all the metro stuff.

oddly ryanbob i had win7 installed and it ran worse on my netbook and the wifi card was glitchy with it and half the time wouldn't work properly. i installed ultimate and changed a bunch of settings and upped the power scheme to high performance and it ran alot better then starter. go figure on that on one.

Hmm, how interesting.

Never used windows starter...... don't plan on it either.

Did it have some bloatware on windows starter?
nope 100% clean installs with just windows 7, plus i don't like the lockdowns that starter has. you can't even change the desktop background without having to hack the system to do it.

I'm enjoying 8 quite a bit.

I think the start UI is useful in its own way.. but I spend most of my time in the desktop.

I pin all of my favorite programs to the taskbar just like always..

It's easy to treat the metro UI as a cross between spotlight and dashboard in OS X.. it's a nice out of the way place to put things like widgets(live tiles), check the weather, etc.

You didn't really lose any function.. there are hotkeys to search all of the settings on the machine, the apps or the files.. or even the content of metro apps all within the metro UI.

Win + Q - searches apps (or just hit win and start typing)
Win + W - searches settings (shortcut to searching control panel, basically)
Win + F - searches indexed files

Performance is better than windows 7 on the same hardware and with less resources consumed.. and it has been quite stable for me as well. (Been running it as primary OS on my main machine for over a week.. and I've had one blue screen.. caused by Catalyst 11.8.)

I've had no further BSOS (blue screen of sadness) since I went back to the ATI driver from windows update.

How's everyone getting on with win 8?

I have had it for 2 days and although I'm struggling to find my way around a little I'm very impressed with the snappiness of it. just downloading some games at the moment to check for any FPS increase (not hoping for too much here as it is pre-beta)

It has been mentioned the licence will expire next march, is there any news as whether it will upgrade to a Beta program then and we can carry on using it?

I'm using it as my only OS on my gaming rig (sig rig) at the moment and would like to continue using until it's released.
