A bit confused about compatability with Phenom and mobo

I am almost finished building my first rig using the AMD II X2 555 BE C3. My mobo is MSI 785G-E53. I impatiently await delivery of my memory G.skill ripjaws DDR3 1600 F3-12800CL9D-8GBRL (4Gx2) to complete the build. I am anxious to test the system now and am tempted to go to Frye's today to pick up a 2Gx2 Patriot mem kit of DDR3 1333MHz DUAL G2PGD34G1333ELK http://goo.gl/euzxv (This kit is only $30 less $25 rebate.)

The G.skill site says that mem test voltage is 1.5V and does not include my mobo on the recom. list. http://tinyurl.com/3cvuvzu It strongly recommends that for an AMD platform, to follow the voltage/timing as specification to stabilize your system instead of select AUTO/Default.

The Patriot mem is rated at 1.67v. http://tinyurl.com/3wxmrbs

I do wish to try overclocking and am concerned about how each set would work with my CPU and mobo and if they would beneficially work together or best alone. Suggestions greatly appreciated.

1.5v is for the Intel guys. Should work just fine in your setup. Manufacturers can't test out every single kit of ram, that is why the newer stuff is not listed. Put em in and fire it up. Good to go.

After initial boot, shut down, then go into bios and set the ram to recommended specs by Gskill and it should work just fine. AMD mobo will automatically read it as 1333 (mem. standard).

Other than for initial testing of the system, should I use the Patriot (2x2G) at all? If so, will it downset all RAM to 1333? I have heard elsewhere that more than 4G could slow system. Would that be correct?

This is the kit one step above mine: see my thread about timings here: http://www.overclock.net/amd-memory/...ng-timing.html

I run mine a ton lower than stock speed, but with super impressive timings. The voltage I have set is 1.65, I went up to 1.75..... and they take it just fine. Make sure you have decent cooling/airflow though....
