EVGA GTX 580 Water Block help - Page 14

Heres a pic of the 2 cards. (for anyone interested) The one on top is without the IHS. Notice the pcb's, the one that says EVGA is the one you want. Can't confirm though if it is always constant like that.

All three of my Zotacs say Nvidia and they have the heatspreader. Guess its an EVGA-only thang tongue.gif
post #134 of 207
If that is the case no full block will make contact unless you want to use thick thermal pad.... or a universal gpu block.

Strangely i owned a lot of gpu 3 zotacs, 2 gigabytes a msi and a evga 3gb and they all have heatspreader. maybe contact evga and see if you can get one with it?

What if have a 580 that doesn't say anything near the connector? frown.gif

The one I got from Step-Up is completely devoid of brand marking near the connector but the EVGA one I got from Microcenter says "EVGA" on it.

Did someone say you can see the heatspreader if you take the shroud off and not the whole cooler? I would love to have my non-branded 580 replaced with one that can do higher than 935 on the core without crashing my whole system.

I've honestly never seen that before. It was an epic fail. Windows even said it was a nvidia driver error. :/

Its easy to check. There are 7 tinys screws around the outside of the shroud. If you lay the card flat like in the pictures these screw will be horizontal. This will allow you to take the top half of the shroud off.

You then flip the card over and take off the 4 gpu screws that have springs. You don't have to touch all the tiny screws on the pcb. It takes about 2 minutes to do.

I think it will be some time before they come out, this is a fairly new issue and it takes a little while for companies to release new products. Is it confirmed EK is making a new block? Or is that just from some post on this site.

Did you buy a shim? Or wait you don't even own a block yet do you.

I ended up RMA'ing my blocks and I've been hesitating to buy new ones out of fear I won't be able to get it work correctly. I can't believe what an absolute nightmare this has been. I've exchanged numerous emails with various evga reps and they absolutely refuse to swap my cards because they were purchased on eBay.
