I'm trying to play movies on my Panasonic Vierra TC-L42E3 using a 1GB USB drive but the video format doesnt seem to be supported (AVI).

So I should change it to mp4? By the way I looked in the manual and that wasnt in there. It only said some video formats may not be supported.

I did and this was not in there. Trust me....He got this off the website and it's probably a revised manual while my booklet is the original one.

Which brings me back to my question. Should I convert them to MP4 to play them on my TV?

Does your TV support DLNA? If it does, you could always find a DLNA server to run on your rig, and hookup the TV via LAN. Then you could just transcode to the supported codecs and play it that way. Or you could convert to a supported codec, and not have to worry about transcoding.

from what i gather from reading the above, you have to run it in that format even using DLNA, so the one solution is to get a converter program and have at it...

I'd venture a guess and say whatever format your TV supports.
