Will Ripjaws-X work with Ivy Bridge and Intel 7 series platform? - Page 2

Ok, read that.
I am not sure what the G.Skill lads are referring to...
But the guys from bit-tech talked about 16GB running at a x21 multiplier for the memory.
So the sticks could run@2133MHz. Since you have 1600MHz RAM it shouldn`t concern you if SBs can handle 16GB of 2133MHz RAM. thumb.gif
BTW: The 16GB RAM club is full of lads with an i7 AND 16GB like:

I'm looking to run a minecraft server and record in game using Fraps. which should I get?

for SB-E X79 LGA2011 you will need 4 sticks for quad channel, but id try and make those 1gb or 2gb sticks.

I would go for the 8GB of C7ish Ripjaws.
But I have no idea how much RAM a !minesweeper! server needs
That why I would grab two of these 8GB sets. Then you have more than enough RAM with nice timings and are quad_channel ready.
But you might want to check what RAM is needed for that server and get only 8GB. Just so that you don`t waste money.

gotta be careful with some of those ripjaws X. i had 2 instances when i bought the EXACT SAME 2x4gb packages and they did not play well together in a 4X4gb setup.
