Two problems with ram/MoBo and Timings question.

Ok. So I orded the G.Skill Ripjaws-X F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH, I got it today. It works fine at 1333mhz 7.8.7.24.34.T2 and up, But i can't get it to go down to 6.8.2.24.34.T1 at which it is rated. My motherboard just dosn't post and screams at me three times, I think three bleebs is ram error.
I also can't get it to work right at 1600mhz, any timing as windows says only 1.99gb is avalable. It did this with my old ram too so i just ran it at 1333mhz.

Any one got any ideas on etehr of the problems?
I think I heard some where that AM3 motherboards can't work with timings less then CL7? I dunno if this is true.

Anyways thanks for any advice.

new ram: G.Skill Ripjaws-X F3-12800CL6D-4GBXH
old ram: Corsair Dominator 1600mhz CL9 4gb(2gbx2) (now not installed)
MoBo: MSI 990FXA GD80
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 BE

ok ..do this..set it to where it works..(this takes about 15-20 mins of rebooting) then lower the first timing down 1 notch @ a time..until no post..then set it to the last good timing..continue on to 2nd timing..3rd...cycle time..row time..and you'll have your lowest possible timings

Set you cpu-nb to 1.3-1.35v. If it boot, test its stability using hyper pi 32m.
If it passed then you can try decrease the cpu-nb voltage.

I tried changing the CPU-NB voltage. The motherboard just screamed at me and wouldnt post. I also tried getting to 1600mhz via setitng the ram to 1333mhz and setting the FSB to 240mhz. Windows still saw it as only 4gb(1.99gb usable).

I tried that, i was only able to get it stable at 7.7.5.20.28.T2. But i haven't played around with the voltage. because if i cant get it running good enough for me ill just send them back and get somthing with higher timings but more capacity and faster clock, that i can just over clock anyway. No point in getitng fast ram thats more expensive, then most when i can get a better deal and just overclock it for exact same proformence. I can get the same timings on my Corsair dominators no problem.
