Funny story about this chip... it actually had a cold bug. At idle, it would crash at around -185°C and under load it could go all the way down to -194°C. While this doesn't seem like an issue... it meant no full pot benching sad-smiley-002.gif

I've wondered about the whole LN2 @ -194c thing, I can never measure below -175c when I get my dewar filled, and my pot doesn't get any colder than that either. Is it possible that there are varying temperatures between LN2 makers or is it more likely that it was a bad temperature sensor (thermometer has since broken, will be buying a new one)

Below, you'll notice I had Super Pi 32M running in the screen shot. This was a result of the cold bug issue. When WPrime finished, I still had tons of LN2 in the pot and temperatures were way too low. Since I knew it was going to crash, I opened 32M right away so the processor would be under load allowing the temperatures to be low thumb.gif

Nice runs there mate, and fantastic thinking of running 32m so the system didn't crash, that's really nifty. I'm going to steal that and use it in my coldbugged benching sessions tongue.gif

Anyways, it was a pretty good first experience with AMD. I think I'll be selling this chip for a 955 since they're worth more points cool.gif

I just checked the bot after seeing this post, and wow. The 955 is worth an absolute fortune in points, I will most definitely be grabbing one of those.

Keep LN2ing people, I enjoy doing, seeing, thinking about and hearing about it. biggrin.gif

Either way... I think we're all in agreement that if it's not at the Bot it doesn't count.... biggrin.gif

Alot of scores got axed by that new rule frown.gif

And yeah, I agree...If it's not on the bot then it doesn't count.

whats the differance between a 945 and 555? if i recall the 945 holds the highest PII clock record

just noticed you live in ky too.

I think I'm going to figure out what this chip can do on air. It was passing tests at 4.5GHz with 1.475V, so I think it's a pretty good one. Once I figure that out I'll be throwing it up in the marketplace for a trade for a 955 BE.

The actual boiling temperature of LN2 is -196C. The quality (mass, surface area) of your pot as well as the accuracy of your thermo will determine how close to this you can get. My thermo is brand new (just got it a few weeks ago) and it's a high quality unit. My pot is also quite a beast. Even during 1024M, the temperatures didn't budge at all. It held perfectly at -192 all the way through.

955 is worth lots, but there's some pretty stiff competition with it!

hey bass.....did your chip freeze while running benches is you suddenly filled the pot with Ln2?

my 555 would be running pi with some juice left in the holes at the bottom, & if you poured in enough Ln2 to have it start filling it would freeze.....I didnt have a thermo connected so I have no idea what it was

If there was no load, as soon as the temperature hit ~-185C, the computer would lock up and I'd have to restart. When the chip was under load, I could keep the pot full.
