have fun
how much would that cost me?

From what I could gather from his post - he's just suggesting you get a new mobo and possibly a new water cooling loop (which won't fit in the aurora case).

So basically - since you can't really do the latter - he's just suggesting you get a new mobo basically so you can overclock the CPU - assuming the CPU is a K, and not a non-K version of the 2600 chip.

Cost depends on which mobo you choose to throw into your case.

pretty much what three4seven said but from looking at pictures i really thought u could fit a 120mm in the rear and another at the top. but nevertheless, on air or closed water loop the board will still walk you to 4.5 and above easily. got mine at 4.5 1.325V and tops out at ~70C on IntelBurnTest max stress, 10 runs, ambient of ~22C and case closed with dust filters and Noctua C14.

but the board cost me AUD$259 as oppose to AUD$449 for the full blown Maximus. also gotta rephrase what i actually meant in my first post regarding SLI. what i meant was the upper Maximus will be a waste if you're not gonna add 1 or 2 more cards later down the road. the Gene Z will run SLI with ease also but you're gonna need a reference 580 because anything else like the TwinFrozer cooler which dumps waste air inside only makes things worse in SLI.

They do. Almost every manufacturer makes his its own motherboards and BIOS. They suck...

+1. For the mobo and the case too... also graphics card will be stock-ish...

And don't forget that OEM video cards are often a bit castrated...

But still quite good deal IMO... But there is only 1-year warranty so I hope they have good fiability!

And get a Crucial C300 instead of OCZ Solid 3. My 2cents.

I just benched my OCZ Solid 3 on my G53SW and it got 550 MB/sec read and 500 MB/sec write!!

If the alienware has a SATA 3 I might put it in there, if not then I'm going to put my LE in there.

Have you ever seen one in person? The mATX cases are short in height but really long so they're not really a mATX case anymore. And Alienware's mid tower cases are stupid big. Not to mention the full towers they sell, which can hide a small child within it's confines.

I say go for it.
