yeah I pretty much figured everyone who bought an FX got ripped off, but I'll get the last laugh cause I will never buy another AMD cpu again. Do you know if any of the 990 boards actually run the fx well this piece of crap 990fxa-ud7 keeps bluescreening and dropping the drives from the system even when running the X6 1100T on stock clocks(piece of crap). any way just thinkin might try puttin the FX in something that actually works for my kids system unfortunately their board is so old can't even put the 1100T in it 740g NB 700 SB last bios update was 09 GA-MA740GM-S2H.

Sorry for the AMD talk here guys

Can't wait less than 2 weeks till I get my ASR Fatal1ty Pro Gen3, just ordered a Swiftech Apogee HD to cool my 2700k (can't get these water blocks in AUS yet !!) So looking forward to a beast that will meet my expectations even if I run it at stock.

I am going to redo my WC setup to try to get temps down below 20 degrees C. I have my eye on a Watercool MO-RA3 9x140 rad and two laing d5's or swiftech MCP655's Not after a quiet PC but one that clocks really well

here is pic of the rad its as big as the side panel of a HAF 932450
I have an 85W Peltier I may or may not use its a 16V unit so will be more like 60W at 12V

Hey bouncyfro. I have similar problems and I found this post - it seems to explain "error 70" and BSODs. Worth checking out.

Basically its about not having vdroop at incorrect level.

Anyway i thought id ask a few questions to the people who actually managed anything above 4.5Ghz on this board. Ive been stuck at 4.3Ghz for some time now, so i thought id try the settings that automatically overclock the cpu for you. Now 4.4Ghz and 4.6Ghz dont work, but 4.8 actually boots windows. Thats strange right? I checked the voltage and it was around 1.44v, which to me is not safe on a 2500k for 24/7 use.
My question is, if this chip is capable of 4.8Ghz, then anything below it is possible right? Because ive never heard of a chip being able to run at 4.5 but not 4.4 or 4.3.
If i can confirm this, then i know theres still a chance of me getting that 45 multi im CRAVING for..

Can you post all of your settings of your 4.3Ghz OC, preferably screenshots. Then note the voltages at idle and under load as seen in RealTemp while running LinX

Thanks that was an interesting read, ill have to look up my manual and check those dr. debug numbers. Ill try playing with it now to see what i can do.

Ok will P95 and coretemp do? It fluctutaes between 0.952 and 1.024 on idle and with P95 (In-place FFT) im getting 1.264v - 1.272v. Pictures up shortly.

You're getting pretty good voltages for a 4.3Ghz OC here, actually lowering the offset. This processor should be able to go quite a bit higher.

Right, the first issue is your load line calibration. I'm surprised you even got this far with it set on level 5. I can OC my CPU to 4.6Ghz on LLC level 4, but others need to put it on level 3 for a 4.6Ghz OC. Load line calibration helps to eliminate vdroop. If you want a good explanation of what this is, you can find it in this article. Briefly, vdroop is when the motherboard actually lowers the vcore when the CPU is under load. This is part of Intel's design specification, and actually desirable, although it is the enemy of overclockers. The various levels of LLC progressively eliminate more and more of the vdroop. Level 5 is standard. So what's occuring here is you're telling your motherboard to undervolt the CPU by comparison to what the CPU tells it should be the voltage at a given clock speed (that's the negative offset you're using), and then vdroop is coming into play to lower the voltage at load even further. That you can get to 4.3GHz with these settings shows you've got a pretty good CPU there.

Step one is to raise the load line calibration to the next level and test (because some vdroop is eliminated, you will see higher voltages on load, even though you have not changed the offset). If simply raising the LLC level does not work, then reset the voltage offset to 0 (up from -0.035). You will be giving the CPU more voltage, although it will still be at "stock" voltage. If this does not work, then progressively raise the offset by one increment until it is stable. My rule of thumb is that if I hit an offset of more than +0.05v, then I move it up to the next LLC level and reset the offset back to zero, otherwise the idle voltage is being boosted too much. My 5Ghz OC required an LLC level of 2. I would not want to use a level 1.

All your other settings look good. If you want to go above a 4.6GHz overclock, then you will need to increase the CPU core current limit under the turbo settings a bit, say to 200 should be good. Likewise, above 4.6GHz, you will almost certainly need to enable CPU PLL Internal Overvoltage. Given that you're running high density DIMMs, at these levels you may need to tweak VTT slightly, although I don't think that will be necessary (you'd definitely need to do it if you had all DIMM slots populated).

I'd suggest you download LinX. If your OC is unstable it will fail quicker than P95. It will also generate temps up to 10 degrees higher. A quick test would be 10 runs on a 20,000 iteration linpack. To really stress test and be certain it's stable, click the "All" memory button in the top middle and run it for about 30 runs.

Awesome explaination of how the board works during clocking, thanks for that! that has given me insights into clocking this board too when I get one.

Still no good with these:

450

450

Read a few 2500k threads and apparently some need more than 1.35 to get to the .45Ghz territory. Fine so i used 1.4v and a llc of 1, that amount of voltage should be more than enough. Upped the values of all the voltage options. Still wont boot at 4.4Ghz, i dont know what is holding this chip back. It aint the voltage, thats for sure.

And my 4.3 OC is perfectly fine..

PS: Congrats Carlos, glad someones took the job.

Upped the values of all the voltage options. Still wont boot at 4.4Ghz, i dont know what is holding this chip back. It aint the voltage, thats for sure.
And my 4.3 OC is perfectly fine..
PS: Congrats Carlos, glad someones took the job.

Ok, so it's not the voltage or vdroop now, that's clear. It does not seem to be VTT either as you upped that. Reset everything back to your 4.3 settings, then set LLC to level 4 or 3 (definitely not as high as 1), set the vcore offset back to zero, keep VTT around 1.129v as that won't hurt.

Doing some searching, you're not alone in having this "will post at 4.7 multi, but won't post at 4.4, 4.5 or 4.6" on certain Asrock motherboards. It seems to be a motherboard problem rather than a CPU issue. One poster discovered on his Z68 Extreme3 that he needed to disable Intel visualization technology and the IGD multi-monitor option in the UEFI.

If that is not the fix, then try and lower CPU PLL voltage to around 1.72v - 1.75v. Quite a number of people have noticed that lower CPU PLL voltage seems to contribute to stability. You can go as low as 1.72v. If this does not work, you can also try to enable the CPU Internal PLL Overvoltage setting, although normally you would not need that until > 4.6 - 4.8Ghz

If none of this works, I'd say just choose one of the higher multis that do actually work.
