I'm assuming no, but as I'm not familiar with how these ports are connected to the processor, it seemed worth asking.

Nope, USB 3.0 is a higher voltage and has an additional pair of cables inside if I'm not mistaken. From what I understand it would be impossible.

Hi All,

I have spent this morning reading the whole post... picked up few tricks, thanks to all contributions.thumb.gif
This is my first attempt to OC... and forgive me all for being so "newbie", but I got lost in all the screenshots guidance, updates, issues...etc.

Can someone help me please by providing a step by step on how to modestly overclock my 2600K chip to a max 4.7 Mhz...? if that's possible? Auto or Manual will do...
Just few screenshots would be greatly appreciated, as many posts in this thread got me completely lost and wondering where I am...rolleyes.gif

Many thanks, in advance,

The screenshots I just posted a few posts back should give you a real conservative 4.6. Use those settings and then increase your offset by .03 or so, or change your LLC to level 3 if you want 4.7. That should get you close to where you want to be.

FWIW, my comp has locked up 5 times today with 2.04. I tried disabling my C states as well as bump my offset up .03 to make absolute sure it had nothing to do with VCore. No luck. I'm not sure if any other settings are causing this, but I was using the exact same settings with 1.30 with no issues. I'm going back to 1.30.

After downgrading to 1.30, I get 'Error! System cannot get FW version' on the first screen after posting. 2nd screen says 'HECI Pointer Mismatch' in big white letters. When I go to BIOS settings it shows 1.30, UEFI is 1.30 version and everything runs fine. It takes a bit longer to boot though. Hmmmm............

I noticed the following is listed on the Beta BIOS page:
* "Please only flash newer version of BIOS in the future."

Here's a screen capture (relevant section is outlined):
289

Is it possible they've made a change that will not allow for successful flashing of previous BIOS versions?

Hi ya,

Could you please get me yur screenshots when you go back to 1.3 smile.gif
I had problem understanding the conversion I had to do from 2.x to 1.3 as you suggested.. now as I am still on 1.3 I would appreciate your help.

Also What are th eissues when using the system default OC i.e. to 4.4 or 4.6 or 4.8...?

Many thanks,

Not really sure. Everything works just fine with the exception of a slightly slower boot up..... even though the error is still there and the 'HCI Pointer Mismatch' on the second screen before getting into the Windows screen. I noticed what you outlined, but I also noticed that in the 'How to Update' it mentions loading the original BIOS if there are any issues. Perhaps that meant as a last resort, I don't know. Looks like a universal outline on how to update.
