Windows 8 Dev Build - Opinions

I'm curious what people's thoughts are. Me personally, it seems like Win 7 with windows phone OS style tile overlay forced on the user. Really weird and inefficient on a desktop. It just sorta feels all over the place and none of the 'enhancements' appear to actually streamline the experience.

User interface paradigm change with Gnome 3 and Unity are way ahead in the new interface department. Just my opinion, curious what other testers like and dislike though.

I didnt like Win8 that much, I was always a fan of Ribbon X( great improvement especially in 3ds max, I could find everything instantly) so file explorer is nice, and the snap feature.Thats it, and reskinned task manager.meh
Metro would be a great when you are sitting on your couch and browsig with kinect, that would be nice, otherwise no.

Gnome 3.2 is pure win in my opinion even with multi monitor its great, Unity they need to work on that, havent tryed 11.10 ubuntu beta yet.

I think this OS was designed more for tablets, phones, ect. I don't think I will be buying this OS.
I found it to be rather disappointing because it didn't even have a proper start menu. Hopefully this will be changed before they release the final product.

Once you disable Metro UI (do not want) all your left with is Windows 7 with a new internet explorer and a new file browser.

Nothing else seems to have changed, not even visually.

It takes some getting use to. Once I got use to it I liked it better. The new task manager is amazing and the new search features are awesome. The new metro stuff is just a start menu replacement that has more better/features, that just took some getting use to.

Somethings I don't like:
-If you want to get to your desktop you have to hit Win+D instead of just Win. Kind of annoying.
-Having Multiple partitions is anonying. You boot up and your computer boots into windows 8. So say you want to boot into windows 7, you turn your computer on, it boots into win8, then you have to select windows7 from the boot menu(?) then your computer reboots and loads up win7. It added about 2or so mins to booting up into win7.

Some tips:
-If you hit the windows key and start typing, it automatically starts searching your computer for apps. So it's like the search feature in win7 (with some more features).
-Goto Control panel in the metro UI then click "more options" then it will bring up the old control panel. You can pin this to your taskbar to make it easier to get to.
-There's no more "my computer" instead all the "my computer" options are available in "computer" section (where your C drive and what not are shown) in Windows Explorer.

Nah, Gnome 3 and KDE/Opensuse still does things better. It just feel like microsoft is trying to obfuscate things further than they already are. Meego/Gnome Distro/KDE Distro/EVEN Openbox distro is more well-thought-out. Windows 8 seems like a weak attempt to take over the phone market by integrating xbox/win phones/win8 pcs.
