Hey there,

As the title says, which do you use, can you detect any difference, and why do you use it?

None and I was unable to detect any difference.

WASAPI's exclusive mode was not convenient.
ASIO doesn't like the Asus Xonar cards very much so I scrapped both.

I love the sound of WASAPI, but the exclusivity really sucks. :<<br />
I can't get ASIO to work at all~ not even ASIO4ALL.

ASIO because I usually do other stuff while I'm listening to music, some of which involve other sounds. Doesn't work well with WASAPI.

@Inverse: do you use foobar2000? Shouldn't be hard setting up ASIO with an X-fi, just get foo_out_asio.dll from the foobar plugin site and 'create' an ASIO device in the foobar output settings.

WASAPI because of the exclusivity the media player has, I can browse and chat without annoying sounds on websites or chat programs blasting through my speakers while I'm listening to music.

I've never compared ASIO to WASAPI in terms of sound quality but I doubt I'd notice any difference.

It sucks for me because I like leaving sounds on in games, but have my own music in the background while I mute the ingame music. But I can't get any game sounds with WASAPI on. I mean WASAPI is only really good for music~ so I can turn Directsound back on for gaming, but still~ it'd be nice to have my cake and eat it too every once in awhile. lol

wasn't WASAPI in a Bud Light commercial? If so, I'd steer clear of it.

I use WASAPI with Foobar and Asio with Winamp, but I use Foobar 99% of the time. Voted Foobar.

ASIO on f2k but only because wasapi seems to crash the program every time and the only way to get the player working again is to restart my pc.
