Torn between 2 swan products...

Thread Starter
Well I've been reading more about the line of products from this company which I've never heard of before. I finally narrowed it down to 2 set of speakers...

http://www.theaudioinsider.com/produ...products_id=80

OR

http://www.theaudioinsider.com/produ...roducts_id=167

Well the first one has a built in amplifier, but lacks a subwoofer. The 2nd one is the other way around. It doesn't have a built in amplifier, but has a subwoofer. So, will you guys give me any input or advice. I'm planning to use these speakers for all around, watching movies, playing games and listening to music. Thanks.

Hmm, that was me six months ago. First off, the M50W does have an amplifier, but it's in the subwoofer (kinda hard to imagine a 2.1 system set that would be passive...)

Really it should be, do you want to throw more money at it later? The M50W is a great generalist set of speakers (I use it everyday...sooo slight bias?) Subjectively the M200mkii's sound better, but the lack of a subwoofer means it's gaming and movie prowess are a little lacking (definitely made up for if you buy a sub separately...but again it's an additional $100+)

So I say if you budget is $300, go with the M50W's if you're really a little of everything.

Maybe I can buy the M50 now...then later on I can add on the M200mK2's...I think i'd be able to add these 2 together. I don't know much about audio stuff.

Hmm are u sticking to 2.0/2.1 all the way or have plans for 5.1 later down the road? If the latter i'd say hunt for a used AVR/Surround sound receiver and maybe go with a pair of passive bookshelf speakers 1st?

As an addenum to what trog said, the two aren't combinable as a surround system if that's what you meant by adding them on. Buying any of the two means you'll be staying in the 2.1 level
